Trotsky osorojo These kinds of articles pop up a lot when players are negotiating contracts. The articles usually aren't signed.Exactly. Stan Fischler (PBUH) made an entire career out of laundering stuff like this for the clubs. I remember listening to an interview with Fischler on WBZ radio in Boston the night of the Esposito for Ratelle and Park trade (I was living in Southern NH at the timeby jkahn - Hockey

Here's Mike Schafer's season ending email: Hello Everyone This past week has been stressful and emotional for everyone, and with the NCAA announcement to cancel the post-season tournament, our hockey team is not excluded. Yesterday, it was very difficult to speak to our team and watch young men cry as their chance of achieving their dreams had disappeared. In my 34 years of coaching, nothing haby jkahn - Hockey
Re: PU @ CU - 4 years ago
Swampy Trotsky I think it would be cool if they allowed one fan per section. It would be funny. It would be a throwback to the old tradition of "auditions" at Lynah which has sadly fallen by the wayside. Imagine one person in the exact middle of each section holding up a newspaper. Now THAT is performance art. +100 But ... I heard they're giving players 3 spectator passesby jkahn - Hockey

Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
I sat right by the Cornell bench my senior year. If a player made a mistake, Ned would immediately address it with the player very directly explaining what he should have done, then pat in on the back and send him back out for his next shift. How things were handled between games I can't address.by jkahn - Hockey

Al DeFlorio scoop85 arugula BU vs. BC was a spectacular game at the Beanpot. BU looked significantly better than at MSG I only saw the 3rd period and OTs, but from what I saw I agree with your assessment. For the young and talented teams like BU, it only makes sense that they will improve (often significantly) as the season progresses. Globe article said new players joined BU team second semesby jkahn - Hockey

Re: MSG: Red Hot Hockey NEWS - 4 years ago
marty billhoward I wrote a couple stories for the Sun on friction between Bertrand and the players. Bertrand was not well liked by the players. But then that was the whole point of Miracle the movie: the players rallied around their dislike of and came home with Olympic gold. The 1972 team rallied against Bertrand to get clobbered in the ECAC finals and NCAA finals by BU, then next year pulleby jkahn - Hockey
Re: I guess we see if the schedule imbalance was a good thing - 4 years ago
upprdeck pretty crazy to be 3 months into the season and Cornell has played 4 home games and yet its only 9 home 7 road the rest of the way. i can only find one team that has played even 7 home games, some have played 13 In the end, we are balanced. Three of our first 13 were neutral site games, and our full regular season totals will be 13 home, 13 road and 3 neutral site games.by jkahn - Hockey

Re: 2020-21 Schedule - 4 years ago
I asked Coach about next year's OOC schedule at the Q&A at the Fortress pre-game reception. North Dakota at Lynah (2) - per a player's parents this is our opener CU at Arizona State (2) - although Mike said something about a tournament, so I'm not sure if they are both vs. ASU Yale at MSG AIC at Lynah Cornell at Providenceby jkahn - Hockey
Re: Fortress Invitational - 4 years ago
FYI, Andreev did not play as he got sick this afternoon. Berard took his place on the first powerplay unit and Stienburg dressed in Max's place to fill out the line-up. So the Hockey Gods or our depth as a team helped greatly on the first two goals. Noah Bauld was great defensively all game. Mike mentioned in the pre-game reception that he likes to have the Bauld-Betts-Mulllin line out againsby jkahn - Hockey

Re: 1969-70 memories - 4 years ago
Just a few initial thoughts from a guy who saw 22 of the 29: 1) My most everlasting memory of the '69-'70 team is just the incredible will to win that the team had. Every shift was skated as if it were the most important shift the players had ever skated. Shift changes were greeted with a round of applause or even a standing ovation, for the hard 50 seconds that group had put in. 2) After weby jkahn - Hockey

Jim Hyla ursusminor Beeeej Swampy Trotsky I'll bet the 1970 team's SOS was awful. Turns out they don't withhold the trophy for that. Then we played Clarkson for the ECAC championship and then again for the NC$$ NC, so Clarkson must have been pretty good too. (Of course beating them in the national title game wouldn't count towards SOS in any meaningful way. But I wonder why we didn't play Clarby jkahn - Hockey
Re: 2019-11-30: Cornell 2 BU 0 - 4 years ago
Scersk '97 Beeeej JasonN95 That was fun stroll down memory lane. I was fortunate enough to make it back to Lynah for those two games. I don't think I had a more enjoyable weekend of games at Lynah, coming out of those games elated thinking that Cornell could again be a top tier Div I team. There was a great quote from Jack Parker after the games where he said (I'm paraphrasing) that watching hisby jkahn - Hockey
Re: 2019-11-30: Cornell 2 BU 0 - 4 years ago
Beeeej If TBRW is to be believed, last night was the first time we've ever shut out BU. That hardly seems possible, but wow. --unless one counts the Dec. 1972 1-0 forfeit win, reversing a 9-0 loss. BU forfeited 11 games for using an ineligible player. Hardly seems fair to count a forfeit though, and certainly this team deserves credit for the first real shutout.by jkahn - Hockey
Re: Incoming Recruits - 4 years ago
Trotsky martyAuthor! Most of the players are veterans of the Canadian Junior B league (only Goodkind and Straight are Americans)' where offensive checking is legal. Huh? When did offensive checking become legal in the NC$$? Or was this just a Frosh team rule? Not just a frosh rule, there was no body checking in the offensive zone in NCAA hockey when I was in school. Nevertheless, Ned's teby jkahn - Hockey

scoop85 Trotsky scoop85 A little more info about Howe. He plays for the same team that produced Galajda. Despite the less than stellar stats, he seems like a solid prospect. Re: Wrestling 2019-20 - 4 years ago
Like hockey, we start the wrestling season a lot later than many other teams. At Michigan State this weekend the Michigan State Open was held, with, per one news article, 450 wrestlers from 31 schools. There was an Open division and a separate Frosh-Soph division. When I walked into my hotel lobby on Friday I saw a lot of people wearing red. It turned out they were from Oklahoma.by jkahn - Other Sports

Re: @ MSU - 4 years ago
Great start to the season. We came out more confidently from the beginning tonight, and we've got the ability to finish the play. Motley's goal was a similar snipe to Andreev's from yesterday. Malinski and Malone continue to stand out among the large freshmen class. I think it is safe to say that this is the deepest roster we've ever had. Haiskanen should be back in a few weeks, but I didn'tby jkahn - Hockey
Re: @ MSU - 4 years ago
We had a lot of trouble 5 on 5 early in the game, and only a lot of MSU penalties seemed to keep us even in the 1st period. However, we seemed to get our legs going in the 2nd and 3rd and played more confidently. Malone was particularly impressive in some stickhandling battles for the puck along the boards, where he managed to come away with the puck.by jkahn - Hockey

ugarte Jim Hyla ugarte A few preseason notes... Cornell lost out on a top recruit; Cam Picklo is a decent prospect coming to Cornell next year (or maybe after a greyshirt year at FLWC) but his younger brother (a *top* prospect) Tate Picklo, is staying at home and going to Oklahoma. Bummer. Do we know if he was accepted? Maybe, just maybe, he couldn't get in? We don't but tbh I think that kiby jkahn - Other Sports
