Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Canisius Photos - 19 years ago
Great pics. Thanks. Glad to see how their logo might actually be a Golden Griffin. It looked like they were the Golden Octopi from where I sat.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Penn hockey history on USCHO - 19 years ago
As a Philadelphian, I'd be thrilled to have U Penn start up D-1 hockey again. But I strongly doubt you could run a hockey program on $175K a year now. I wouldn't think that would even cover the costs of coaches' salaries and benefits, much less equipment, team travel, and recruiting. Anyone know what Cornell's hockey budget is?by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Jersey auction question - 19 years ago
Have to add my two cents to Peter Shier: I started following Cornell hockey in about 1974, at age 12. I learned about slap shots from watching you, and I've never seen any Cornell player better at them since -- as I mentioned to my husband the other day when we saw your name on that jersey. You helped me develop a lifelong passion for CU hockey, and I'm grateful! I wish you all the best. Cby lhayes - Hockey

Thanks. With that info, I just called them. They were appropriately apologetic and processed the refund.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: i2sports is having problems - 19 years ago
Anyone heard from I2Sports about the problems last weekend? I emailed on Friday about the technical problems, then again on Saturday to request a refund of the PayPal debit that bought me nothing. No response. Their lack of customer service annoys me more than the technical problems. I recall pretty attentive service and a reliable feed last year. What happened in the interim? Per game. (I"m hoping to get up to Ithaca enough to save $ by paying per game.) Thanks, though.by lhayes - Hockey

The latter -- the one with the login form. I can see most of that form if I remove all my toolbars from the top of my screen, so I can log in, but I then I get stuck on the paypal screen -- I enter my paypal info but can't get access to the "pay" button. Also, the right half the screen is covered with info about CU hockey. Is that covering up the paypal "pay" button? Thankby lhayes - Hockey

Re: i2sports is having problems - 19 years ago
I still can't get into I2sports -- frames are in the way. How'd you get rid of them? Jdeafv said, "once I copied the link into the browser window for the login I was able to sign up just fine" -- I'm not sure what this means. What link did you copy? My trouble is that there's a big white space in the lower left corner of the screen that blocks out the login screens and "payby lhayes - Hockey
Re: Clarkson @ Cornell game 1 2004-03-12-FINAL 5-1 Cornell - 20 years ago
I was at Lynah watching Vartaressian when he threw a roundhouse at a Clarkson player that missed entirely. The ref saw it, pointed right at him, gave him more than a few words as play continued. Then Vartaressian dropped gloves and you know the rest. Vartaressian was definitely warned by the ref. I don't know what got Vartaressian angry, but he should use his head more in any game, especiallyby lhayes - Hockey

Re: Article in Yale Alumni Magazine - 20 years ago
There was an article about this book in the NY Times the other day, at . The Times mentions the lower SAT scores but focuses more on how recruited athletes are more isolated from other students than they used to be. Here's the opening sentence: "Even at the nation's elite colleges and universities, athletes have become so narrowly focused on sports that they are far removed from theirby lhayes - Hockey
