Re: Albany roll call!! - 18 years ago
I'll be there with my sister and her husband, also Cornell alums. Alas, my convert husband, who posts here as trainbow, will be home overseeing the planting of 36 street trees in NW Philadelphia. I hope to see my 7th Cornell ECAC championship!by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Lynah Rink Renovation - 18 years ago
If I recall correctly, the plans printed in the Ithaca Journal have a rather narrow entrance/lobby toward the west side of the addition, between the new multi-function room in the southwest corner and all the rest of the new facilities to the east. I'm feeling very sure this is all on the level of the existing parking lot. But maddeningly, the plans didn't show any tunnel connecting the lockerby lhayes - Hockey

Re: PA Announcers - 18 years ago
ugarteI don't remember ever being offended at Baker. I haven't been offended either. But to me, their PA announcements seem a rather pathetic reminder that the home crowd needs revving up.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: PA Announcers - 18 years ago
I love Arthur Mintz's style (especially "Good evening, hockey fans" -- our family's standard get-psyched phrase for years now). The announcer who always drove me crazy was at Princeton, with announcements for "Princeton TIGERRRRRR goals." As Al says, it's bush league stuff. We don't need it. And my impression this year was that Princeton now agrees, though I couldn't be suby lhayes - Hockey
"Take that you stinking Badgers" - 18 years ago
That is a direct quote from WCCO radio broadcast of Minn-Wisc. Minn had a 2-1 lead, and was on the power kill. They got a shothanded goal and both announcers went wild laughing and said, "take that you stinking Badgers," then laughed again. Sheeesh.by lhayes - Hockey
Minn-Wisc game is a thriller - 18 years ago
For those interested, Minnesota was up 5-1 going into the 3rd at Wisconsin. But the Badgers have now scored 3 quick goals. Minnesota's broadcast is free over the intertnet. Enjoy!by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Impressions from SLU(t)/Clarkson weekend at Lynah - 18 years ago
Trotskyjtwcornell91TrotskyI needed an icky, painful loss, but not one quite so rotten on the scoreboard. My first thought was the Albany Harvard loss, but that's not apt because of the stakes. You mean Lake Placid. We've swept the ECACs (every time we've made it there) since Albany. Huh. I hadn't thought of that. You're right, I must mean LP. Weren't the ECACs in Albany in 2002? Re: Lynah Townie shirts - 18 years ago
I saw these shirts for the sale over the weekend and wouldn't dream of buying one. What makes Townies not "Lynah Faithful"? Some us us have been faithful for 30 years or more -- including having "done our time in the line" as students.by lhayes - Hockey
Patriots-viewing in Princeton? - 18 years ago
I've got a group of 19 going to the Princeton game tonight, though several are disappointed it conflicts with the Patriots game. Anyone have suggestions about the closest sports bar to the rink, so we can catch the rest of the football game as soon as the hockey's over? Thanksby lhayes - Hockey
Re: All-Access Questions - 18 years ago
Rita, I've got a PC, so it's not just a Mac problem. On the other hand, the full screen zoom option suddenly started working (after I'd fussed with Media Player a bit), so maybe it's an outdated MP thing after all. Glad you too now have full screen access.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: All-Access Questions - 18 years ago
Thanks, Al and Liz. But no dice: I've got no counting clock, no red box, and no "full screen" button. And right clicking and selecting "zoom" shows the "full screen" option non-functional. Maybe I need up upgrade my media player, do you think?by lhayes - Hockey
Re: All-Access Questions - 18 years ago
Any way of increasing the window size to full screen? I've got a window about half the size of my computer screen, with the maximize button nonfunctional, and I can't get the arrows on the sides or corners to drag the window borders bigger. Thanks.by lhayes - Hockey

Cornell Hockey Association - 19 years ago
What's the deal with the Hockey Association these days? Is the CHA basically a social club (so it doesn't make sense for out-of-towners to join)? Or does it have a newsletter or other perks that those of us in the diaspora would enjoy? Is joining a good way to support the team? And how would one do so anyway? I can't find any info online or even in a game program. All info appreciated.by lhayes - Hockey

Re: Thank You - 19 years ago
I've got to add a huge THANK YOU to Age for this Forum. I've learned a ton about the game from the posters here, even after 30 years of Lynah faith. I don't know how else those of us in the CU hockey diaspora could have found each other for Minny game get-togethers. And I've been absolutely dependent on this Forum to get through the anticipation of this week. Bravo, bravo, Age!by lhayes - Hockey

Access to ELynah site - 19 years ago
For the last three days, I haven't been able to access ELynah from home (I get an "timed out -- unable to locate web site" sort of message), though I can get almost all other web sites I've tried just fine. (The one other site we're having problems with is one for Persian traditional music.) I've had no problem in the past and am using the same bookmark as ever. Any ideas? A problby lhayes - Hockey
Re: 2/4: Cornell @ Colgate Postgame - 19 years ago
From what I recall of the winning goal, there was a Colgate player falling to the ice somewhere between the red line and the 'Gate blue line behind the play. But again, the clip is too short and the angles of sight don't indicate what happened exactly. As for a TV clip, I think the Time Warner ch. 26 schedule for Saturday (today) has replays of the game, so perhaps a tech savy soul can tape iby lhayes - Hockey
Tix at Colgate - 19 years ago
Any sense of ticket availability for Cornell at Colgate this Firday evening? We're thinking of driving up for the home-home two-game series but have little information about tickets at Colgate. Thanks!by lhayes - Hockey

Re: Cornell vs. Dartmouth Postgame Thread - 19 years ago
On the Dartmouth goal, which I also thought was offsides, Schafer apparently didn't think so. On the pre-game show yesterday, he called it a fluke (or something like that). He said the puck bounced off a Cornell player's skate back over the blue line. So it wasn't offsides because Cornell technically brought the puck in.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: How to connect laptop to TV for Webcast - 19 years ago
Thanks, Bill. I found the Svideo connectors on the laptop and TV, but no cable. Also found instructions on my laptop for dealing with settings. Since the video's doing all that buffering, though, I'm not going to go nutty tonight running out to Radio Shack for the cable between periods. (By the way, they say it'll be $15 for a basic one or $25 for a fancy one -- does that sound right? Not sby lhayes - Hockey
Re: Goodbye i2sports; hello XMIevents - 19 years ago
Might some technically-competent person give me some advice how to hook up my laptop to a TV, so we can watch the game on the bigger screen and with the better resolution that folks have talked about? What sorts of plug or device would I need to send the signal out of the laptop and into the TV? The laptop's about 3 years old, and the TV about 13 (though it was top-notch in its day), so I"by lhayes - Hockey
