Re: Cornell 2 Quinnipiac 1 (Postgame Thread) - 15 years ago
In his interview with Jason before the game, Shafer said Scali was injured, along with both Kennedys. I clearly heard ACM announce just after the game winner that the penalty on Q's coach was a misconduct (not a DQ). I agree with others, Punches played his heart out last night.by lhayes - Hockey
Cornell Anaphoric Society, where were you? - 16 years ago
Anyone know what happened to the Cornell Anaphoric Society's annual distribution of the six verses of the Alma Mater last night? It was too bad that the band played them all but the fans didn't have the words, nor did most people even know what the band was up to. How many other occasions do we have to assess the relative strengths of verses four and six? I've never known who or what the CASby lhayes - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac-Princeton Roll Call - 16 years ago
14 of us for Princeton. We got our tix 6 weeks ago; they only had seats in the balcony left by then. Louise Hayes '83by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Hey Band! - 16 years ago
After reading this thread, I found myself singing a Lynah pep band tune I first heard decades ago when I was 13, and pondering its strangeness. The lyrics: "Who eats the moose? Oh, HARVARD eats the moose! H-A-R-V-A-R-D!" The trumpets did a wonderful moose-trumpeting sound on the HARVARD part (which of course varied with the opponent). I don't think I've heard this at Lynah in yby lhayes - Hockey

Great story! Thanks for posting it.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Princeton pre-game - 16 years ago
Let's hope the choppy feed is inversely proportional to the Big Red effort on ice tonight.by lhayes - Hockey

Re: ...Milo... - 17 years ago
Al DeFlorio Bill Murray played soccer back in the early 70s, IIRC. Dryden played shortstop for awhile. Players didn't train year-round like they do today. Do I remember correctly that Brock Tredway (mid-late 70s) played soccer too?by lhayes - Hockey
UMass Clakson internet feed - 17 years ago
Clarkson seems not to have an interet feed for the first round game. But UMass does. The announcers may be dull sounding in pre-game, but it's hockey!by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac at Cornell post-game 1 - 17 years ago
In the pre-game show, Schafer said that Seminoff wasn't 100% -- might take shorter shifts, ice the puck if need be -- but that they're really glad to have him back since they otherwise have only 5 defensemen. No McLeod tonight either. I missed the beginning of the pre-game show so didn't hear what was up with him or Taylor Davenport.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: ECAC playoffs - Cornell 4th, first round bye - 17 years ago
petergFrom the CU hockey website prior to the final from Q. Cornell will now await the final score of the Clarkson-Quinnipiac matchup on Saturday night. A win by the Knights would secure a first-round bye for the Big Red, while a Quinnipiac win or tie would leave Cornell as the fifth seed, playing a home series next weekend against Union, which finishes the league regular season in 12th place.by lhayes - Hockey
CC-UMinn great game on web - 17 years ago
CC scored to tie UMinn 2-2, 3rd period. Then, seconds later, CC defense gave it up and UMinn scored; now 3-2. Listen on CC website, for free.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Princeton at Cornell post-game thread - 17 years ago
billhowardLooking good for home ice and a first-round bye and with Harvard now in sixth, a possible Cornell-Cantab playoff in Ithaca. (Yale-Dartmouth yet to play Sunday. Yale winning helps our chances of being fourth; Dartmouth winning helps our chances of winning the Ivy title (like you think a lot about that one).) Here's a scenerio I'd like to avoid: Losing at Dartmouth next week, and thby lhayes - Hockey
Re: PWR - 17 years ago
Chris '03Don't look now, but Cornell is creeping up the PWR (now t16). At the moment, CU is 16th and SLU is 17th. If I add .OO4 bonus, it's a 5-way tie for 16th: Niagra, Mich Tech, Vermont, CU and SLU.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Quinnipiac postgame - 17 years ago
scoop85I only caught part of the third period, but Lynah sounded as loud as I've heard it in a long time. Well, my sense from being in the stands was that the Faithful were not too boisterous for most of the tense, back and forth game. Until goal #2. Then is was electric as CU fought off Q pressure. And much cheering for the team at the very end, especially for the player circle to thank the fby lhayes - Hockey

Re: Ken Dryden's Canadians #29 to be retired tonite - 17 years ago
cth95I didn't know that his brother was a goalie for Buffalo. He is talking about each of them facing eachother as goalies playing ballhockey in the driveway as kids before finally having on chance to play against eachother in the NHL. His book, The Game, describes their childhood with a rink in the back yard or driveway -- trapezoidal, as I recall, with one end much narrower than the other.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Providence Flashback - 17 years ago
I recently came across the Ithaca Journal article and pictures of the game in a pile of old treasures. I set it aside as a high school senior, knowing I'd never see a more exciting game -- and I haven't! Here it is, for anyone who doesn't know what all the fuss is about.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 Maine 1 (1st period) - 17 years ago
Could someone please describe how Cornell got that second goal? I couldn't visualize it from the Maine guys' description (partly because I'm not sure I know what part of the goal is the "stanchion". Thanks.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Maine radio? - 17 years ago
I'm no technie, but are you trying WZON with IE instead of Firefox or some other browser? That's what got it to work for me yesterday.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 Union 0 postgame (12/2/06) - 17 years ago
gatitita '05 If the cheer has energy, and is still audible and comprehensible, whats the problem? The problem is that the counting of the goals and the "we want more" aren't audible and comprehensible. These parts have a far longer tradition, and IMO are a better expression of excitement (and charming to boot).by lhayes - Hockey
All-Access reply from Athletics Dep't - 17 years ago
Here's the reply I got from Jeremy Hartigan, Director of Athletics Communications, to the email I sent regarding problems with All-Access: Dear Cornell All-Access subscriber - Thanks for your note, and sorry you have had problems with the service. We understand All-Access has had problems, particularly over the last year and especially with the audio feeds. We have been continually taby lhayes - Hockey
Re: Crowd - 17 years ago
I agree with Oat that the beat laid down by the drummer for counting out the goals was way too fast last night. If the drummer slowed down, it would be a start on getting the crowd to slow down.by lhayes - Hockey
Re: All-Access catalog of woes - re-signup problems - 17 years ago
I subscribed last year, but have had trouble signing up again this year. I tried to log on with my email address and last year's password, but got an error message saying I had the password wrong (which I strongly doubt). I asked them (via the button for such purposes) to send me my password, and didn't get it. I tried to register afresh and was denied, with an error message saying someone alrby lhayes - Hockey
Re: where's the radio broadcast? - 17 years ago
The low-band width feed, by the way, is replaying Harvard-Colgate, now midway through the 2nd period. (sigh)by lhayes - Hockey
