Re: Cornell Alumni in the Pros: March 2012 - 12 years ago
css228 Can someone explain how Scrivens hasn't been given more of a chance in Toronto given how bad Reimer and Gustavsson have been? James Mirtle, a Globe and Mail reporter, explained that Ben Scrivens appeared to lose confidence in himself during his previous stint with the Leafs. Mirtle has a background in hockey analytics, and he is not prone to making cliches.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hockey on TV - 12 years ago
ursusminor FWIW, RPI-TV will be streaming the games from Atlantic City . Edit: The games won't be televised. That is good news, albeit a small consolation prize for the games not being televised.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: College Hockey News Android App - Alpha Release 0.4.1 - 12 years ago
Thank you. Thank you. I didn't know this would ever get done, given Age's strong preference for Apple products. I know beggars shouldn't be choosers, but will future releases be compatible with older versions of Android? Or will I need to flash a CM7 ROM?by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 RPI 2 (ot) - 12 years ago
Beeeej Aaron M. GriffinI overlooked that. It is somewhat difficult with how Cornell has such a tradition of relying upon talent from Canada (pioneered by Harkness) to remember that fact. Often, I pay no attention to our players's nation of origin (as a born Upstater, I do take special notice of the players from my region of New York State). It seems like flagrant disrespect that no accolade in ouby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Clarkson (pregame) - 12 years ago
Clarkson's line sheet has been distributed. Per Brandon Thomas, Cornell's lines are: Lowry-Collins-McCarron Mowrey-Miller-Ferlin Dias-Bardreau-Jillson de Swardt-Axell-Mihalek D'Agostino-Ryan Birch-Whitney Gotovets-Rossby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: league wide streaming package? - 12 years ago
Scersk '97 One wonders (1) why the ECAC(HL) hasn't gone this direction already, and (2) why we have never seen "reciprocal" arrangements negotiated through which teams would share feeds for home and aways. In several prior seasons, Jeremy Hartigan attempted to reach reciprocity agreements. With one limited exception (a game at Princeton for which the webcast was marred by technical diby cbuckser - Hockey

Al DeFlorio Argh! Is this a new Harvard jersey? Harvard wore those sweaters for the game against Union at Fenway Park. I think it's a throwback based on the sweaters Harvard wore about a century ago.by cbuckser - Hockey

Jim Hyla Trotsky Jim Hyla Doesn't need it's own thread, but here's Ken Schott's (Schenectady Daily Gazette) wrap-up on the Yale-Clarkson game: The Yale-Clarkson game was a wild one, as the Bulldogs blew a 3-1 lead, rallied from a 4-3 deficit to tie it and then lose in overtime, 5-4, on Sam Labrecque's power-play goal. The Golden Knights got a power play when Yale got a bench minor for unspoby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: CU-CC 3-3 - 12 years ago
Al DeFlorio cayuga Does anyone know what happened to Ferlin? 10 minutes for Interference. The CC announcers seemed to indicate he mouthed off too much to the referees on the way to the box. Can't vouch for the validity of that observation. Brian Ferlin got a 10-minute misconduct as well as an interference minor. Nobody observed Ferlin doing anything inappropriate, so the only logical explanationby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: CU-CC 3-3 - 12 years ago
Jim Hyla captens1 Hi all, Reactions from someone who was at the game, but who hasn't seen much of Cornell since '97 or so when I left. First, thank-you-Schafer for finally getting CU to come to Colorado again. There were ~250 of us alums up in the nosebleed seats of the arena hungry for our Cornell hockey again. We couldn't out-noise the piped-in NBAish crap music, but we could out-noiseby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Future Florida College Classic fields - 12 years ago
Jim Hyla cbuckser From this article and a follow-up email, we have learned who will join Maine and Cornell in the holiday tournament for the next two seasons. In 2012, Ferris State and Minnesota-Duluth will play in Estero. In 2013, North Dakota and New Hampshire will be there. Though this year's tournament lacks any top-10 teams, the next two should not. Did you get dates as well? No. Iby cbuckser - Hockey

Re: No wonder our recruits are better - 12 years ago
Mike Schafer has explicitly spoken about the role of financial aid in recruiting and how this class would be significantly less impressive under the financial aid formulas that existed a few years ago. Hopefully, Cornell will note lose out on the future Will Webers of the world because Cornell is much more expensive than blue-chip recruits' other options.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Recruit Defection? - 12 years ago
Strange. Just two days ago, the EJHL named Steve Miller player of the week. The press release states that Miller is committed to Cornell for the 2013-14 season. Has anybody seen or heard anything about a decommitment, aside from Chris Heisenberg's list?by cbuckser - Hockey

Josh '99 Jim Hyla First of all, why do we keep repeating this? Do we know it's true, or is it one of those internet rumors that just keeps on going, and going, and going...Seriously. Some dude tweeting about something doesn't make it true. I better chime in because I am the person to whom that tweet was directed. I have been friends with Peter Charbonneau since first grade. Re: New recruit - 12 years ago
Swampy Trotsky pfibigerAlso, Cornell got a commitment from Gavin Stoick, 6'3", 215lb USNTDP defenseman from Oregon. He was recruited by BU, Michigan, Yale, Harvard and Cornell.Cool beans. The last OR player to make an impact in the ECAC wasn't too shabby (Derek Gustafson). Re: cornell 6 - yale 2 - 12 years ago
If tonight's game doesn't dispel the notion that Cornell is slow, nothing will. Last year we sometimes skated with Yale. Tonight we did for most of the game. In the first two games of the season, Cornell's puck possession in the offensive zone has been outstanding. I can't think of a more effective defensive strategy than keeping the puck 190 feet from your goal.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: lles is not the answer - 12 years ago
Since Parris Duffus twenty years ago, when has a Cornell goalie established himself as The Answer by October of his sophomore year? I come up with one: David LeNeveu. Besides LeNeveu, David McKee comes the closest; he became an elite goaltender in the first semester of his sophomore season. Jason Elliott did so in the second semester of his sophomore year. Re: Cornell 0 Vermont 0 (pregame) - 12 years ago
Greg Berge Has anybody ever heard of a game being "pre-poned"? Say, for example, during baseball season there's a near certainty of a hurricane hitting a site on Sunday. A logical solution: move the Sunday game up to create a Saturday twinbill. Does that ever happen? The Reds and Marlins are playing a pre-poned game right now, in order to avoid a rainout tomorrow from Hurricane Ireby cbuckser - Hockey

Re: National Collegiate Hockey Conference - 12 years ago
RichH Give My Regards I confess I like the table at the end of the article showing national titles by 2013-14 conference affiliation. The ECAC would have a total of five, while the WCHA, the king of all college hockey to hear them tell it, would have three. All by Michigan Tech, which should tell you how long ago that was (1975 was their last one). If Northern Michigan does join the re-imageby cbuckser - Hockey
