Oh sure. And next you will tell us that Pop Warner had a Cornell connection too.by Roy 82 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros MAY '05 - 18 years ago
I agree that the Sharks don't seem to be interested in Doug's hard-hitting defensive style right now. Matt carle has more points but he often gets them by taking risks. His plus-minus was lower than Doug's in the regular season and is among the lowest on the team right now. If the Sharks get into a physical battle I wonder (hope) if they might not want Doug back in the lineup. Ville Niemenenby Roy 82 - Hockey

Liz '05jy3(sarcasm was noted) could it also be to reflect the diminutive status of a possibly dieing league? no, he cant have a reason b/c he never uses apostrophes either! i thought criticizing people on the internet when you know nothing about them about insignificant topics and having more than one person repeat it was so 1990s as well. sigh as I have mentioned before, would other teams evby Roy 82 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2006 - 18 years ago
I don't know if this counts but... Good to hear Brian Hayward doing the color on NBC for the Avs vs Stars game yesterday (in April). Hopefully he will do more. Sounded pretty good to me. Avery was wrong.by Roy 82 - Hockey
Re: the loss of the cha inevitable? - 18 years ago
jtwcornell91Liz '05JerseygirlSilly me, I read that thread title before seeing who started it, and thought the "cha" was something like "chi" or energy flow. I should have realized that a) that poster doesn't believe in caps and b) this crowd ain't that new-agey. I thought "cha...as in cha-cha?" You and me both. You and me three. Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2006 - 18 years ago
I just heard that Lenny is starting in goal tonight (now) for the Coyotes. I think they are pretty much out of contention so why not give himn a shot. I am rooting for the Sharks becuase they need the points, but to win just 1-0 in OT. (Darn, you beat me to it Ritaby Roy 82 - Hockey

Re: Hobey Hat Trick - 18 years ago
DafatoneIf Elliott wins, it is also because the WCHA is so much more offensively orientated than the ECAC. Without getting into any debate about the quality of the two conferences, there's no question that WCHA is more offensive. I agree that the WCHA is more offensive....at least their fans are Let's take a look at our most recent games against the WCHA and the number of goals scored agby Roy 82 - Hockey

Bump. Now that the TBRW hyphenation is happening I feel this thread deserves another look. You can't tell by looking but I worked really hard on those names.by Roy 82 - Hockey
Re: Don't worry, Harvard still... - 18 years ago
Another quick exit for the Can't-advs in the NCAAs. All doubt has now been removed. Hey that's a good sign for next year: Harvard Can't-advs: One and Done since 2001 (I don't know if it is the right year but it rhymes) (how sad is it when you bump your own thread)by Roy 82 - Hockey
Re: CC/Bemidji/Wisconsin cheering - 18 years ago
OK, this is it. The definitive CC cheer. Something on the USCHO forum inadvertently gave me this idea. We shake pieces of paper in our hands (perhaps some newspapers left from the intros) and shout "Paper". The we point to the CC end and shout "Tigers". "Paper" "Tigers" (Perhaps chant it over and over again like a doorbell too. Because we love thatby Roy 82 - Hockey
Re: NCAA First Round 3/24 - 18 years ago
2tkCornellDid the Holy Cross announcer just say Grand Forks, North Carolina .... Well they just said the final was HC 4 North Dakota 3 so they made up for it. I think they are justifiyably emotionally distracted by this victory.by Roy 82 - Hockey
Re: CC/Bemidji/Wisconsin cheering - 18 years ago
uh, oh, I feel another curmudgeon diatribe coming on....... Is there any cheer more lame than " sucks!" (or countless variations there of)? What could possibly be less imaginative? I also don't see how such cheers help our team (that is what it is about afterall). It just makes other fans dislike us and try to counter-cheer (since it is most often used when we are well ahead oby Roy 82 - Hockey
SF Bay Area (Redwood City) - 18 years ago
I just confirmed with the Ice Oasis that it would be OK to watch in their restaurant on Saturday at 2:30 PST. This is a "semi-public" gathering since the restaurant is a private club. The club is upstairs and the door to the upstairs can only be opened by someone with a membership card. You might need to find John Baldwin (an owner) or Aaron Gibby (a Cornell alum) to let you upstaby Roy 82 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament on tv (Thank you, Altitude Sports & Entertainment) - 18 years ago
DeltaOne81cbuckserLike last year, Altitude Sports & Entertainment is stepping up to the plate. Altitude will show most of the NCAA regional games live, including the Cornell-Colorado College game, which will be on the primary Altitude channel (Channel 410 on Dish and 644 on DirecTV). Altitude will also show the Midwest regional final live on the same channel. I wouldn't count on it at mby Roy 82 - Hockey
Don't worry, Harvard still... - 18 years ago

Re: Bay Area ECAC Viewing - 18 years ago
Should we have the incredible good fortune to win on Friday, Rana has again come though with the Ice Oasis (Note: the place in Redwood City with the great club room upstairs, not Logiotech in San Jose) on Saturday. As for Friday, in additon to Craig's offer, I am trying to see if some folks are interested in trying to wrestle a TV free from basketball at the Old Pro in downtown Palo Alto (otheby Roy 82 - Hockey

Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson, Game 2 POSTGAME - 18 years ago
Warning: Middle-Aged Codger Pontificating Follows nr53......I was much more pleased that the crowd stayed put into the second OT on Saturday rather than on Friday when half of E, F and G were empty after the first OT. What???????? Are you serously saying that a large number of students actually left after the first OT? That is absolutely unacceptable. Take names and photos and do not allby Roy 82 - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson, game 1 postgame - 18 years ago
Aaaah, now I understand why we needed more than one goal in overtime to win: According to the Official Cornell Athletics Website, Sawada's goal apprently wasn't needed for the Clarkson game and so they instead used it to beat Dartmouth on the same night: (since they will probably fix it soon here is what the headline said) Sawada's Double Overtime Goal Lifts Men's Hockey Over Dartmouth, 4by Roy 82 - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson, game 1 postgame - 18 years ago
So how hard would it be to make the goal light lockout after the buzzer goes off? It wouldn'ty prove that a goal didn't go in in time but it would prove that it did (except for the unlikely event that the goal judge lit it up too early). They can do it on Jeopardy, why not in hockey?. Maybe I can make a donation to endow the new goal light system. Of course, downward pointing video or puck-by Roy 82 - Hockey

The word from the official NorCal alumni group (we were there Feb 4 and it was a good venue): Come join other Cornell hockey fans and see the Big Red take on rival Harvard Saturday, Feb 18 at 2:30 PM at Logitech Ice in San Jose (Stanley's Sports Bar). The more, the merrier, so come on out and let's get "Lynah West" going again! This game is critical to the Red's status as the #by Roy 82 - Hockey
