Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Hahvahd @ Cornell 01/27/17 - 7 years ago
upprdeck where is this secondary market of tickets that people are buying for $100? students didnt even buy 75% of their tickets this year and havent for many years. I dont really have a problem with the bundling but making it a 4 game package is a bit excessive. Considering that just before xmas you could buy the Harvard ticket stand alone for $30 and they didnt sell many why would theby LGR14 - Hockey
Re: Hahvahd @ Cornell 01/27/17 - 7 years ago
Harvard tickets are usually offered on the secondary market (by students to other students) in excess of $100. If I were a current student without a Harvard student, I'd buy the $80 package in a heartbeat. Smart students will allow this to drive down the prices. It's a good thing.by LGR14 - Hockey

Re: 2016-17 Schedule - 7 years ago
PSU plays Princeton at Wells Fargo in about a week, so we'll see what kind of crowd they draw (though I'd imagine that Cornell would do more of its part than Princeton will). It would be crucial to have the game played after the college football season, though.by LGR14 - Hockey
Re: This Weekend at P & Q - 7 years ago
Pretty much every loss this year has been "that game" though. It's to everyone's own view whether the Merrimack game or the Colorado College game will be the one that is cried over at the end. Hopefully it doesn't come to that. We've actually been a decent possession team this year, and though our PDO is sky high, Gillam may be capable of securing the wins even as our shooting percentagby LGR14 - Hockey

Jim Hyla css228 Jim Hyla billhoward flytacg Jake MacDonald's Highlight reel OT GW sootout goal. Or as a commmenter on the the video's thread said, "Most disrespectful shootout goal of 2016." It was pretty devious. I don't see why it's "disrespectful". I guess if he'd put it between his legs before shooting everyone would have said "What a great move.". Devious it wby LGR14 - Hockey
Re: College Hockey Podcast - 7 years ago
ugarte Trotsky LaJollaRed Lately I've been listening to the "Hockey Goes to College" weekly podcast. Good stuff. The coverage is very Boston-centric, and pretty critical of the ECAC, but entertaining and informative, nonetheless. How is it critical? is it the old "EZAC" trope? Respect for the teams that have earned it, less for the others. I know from chatting with him on Twitby LGR14 - Hockey
Re: Replacement Song for Swanee/Over There - 7 years ago
RichH kla52 Also - apparently the band has been asked by multiple opposing rinks to not play Gonna Fly Now into Gary Glitter... Luckily, our fans are well practiced at singing this loudly. Now if we could only get a large number of students to travel to road games again... If Athletics figured out how to get a yellow school bus to transport students to games, it would happen. Jim Hyla Scersk '97 upprdeck … we ask the flag bearers to walk out on the ice and almost fall every time. Simple answer to that: keep them off the ice or barely on it via a small carpet, like they used to be. That inane and unnecessary moment of silence that accompanies the honor guard slipping and sliding its way off the ice, onto which it has come too far in the first place, sucks the lifeby LGR14 - Hockey

KGR11 kla52 andyw2100 abmarks That cheer has been played for what, close to 30 years now (at minimum) This is just off the top of my head, but I am reasonably certain it hasn't been close to thirty years. If I had to set an over/under, I'd set it at fourteen. If the band somehow decides to bring back "Swanee", could we also perhaps convince them to bring back "Mary Had A Littlby LGR14 - Hockey
Re: Miami vs. Cornell 12/2-3 - 7 years ago
css228 Dafatone I'm not sure if Gillam's incredible play as of late is just a good thing, or if it's hiding the fact that maybe we're not playing as well as I think. And I'm usually one of the optimists here. Team PDO is 102.1. Definitely a bit elevated. The process needs to get better if we're going to survive the inevitable regression toward 100. 102.1 isn't terribly lucky though. I believby LGR14 - Hockey
Re: Replacement Song for Swanee/Over There - 7 years ago
andyw2100 kla52 When I was conductor, I really wanted to bring back "Mary Had a Little Lamb" but was turned down, especially since athletics was threatening to keep us from playing Gary Glitter. What was the objection to "Fight, Maim, Kill?" Maiming and killing is more violent than dying and dropping dead? And calling on Bâby to kill someoneby LGR14 - Hockey

Re: Replacement Song for Swanee/Over There - 7 years ago
Maybe if the band leader (who I'm assuming made this decision) doesn't want to play Swanee, s/he shouldn't be leading the band. Let's get rid of Gary Glitter, too. Then let's get rid of "Screw BU." Eventually get rid of Give My Regards to Davy.by LGR14 - Hockey
Re: Lynah Rink Review - 7 years ago
This seems pretty fair. I'm happy that you recognized that the student section generally did its part in creating an atmosphere. One area I wish Lynah would improve in is the contribution by the non-student sections. Besides the goal chant and cowbell, I don't think those sitting outside Sections B and A (and maybe D?) participate in most of the cheers. I wonder how it would contribute to theby LGR14 - Hockey

Trotsky LGR14 KeithK css228 LGR14 No to the shootout, but I don't understand why the ECAC plays 5-on-5 in OT. Taking away one player from each team would make overtime much more exciting and probably decrease the number of ties. Not ready for 3-on-3 yet, but 4-on-4 should be a no-brainer. With the style of player we tend to recruit, we would get our asses handed to us in 3v3 But 3v3 is amazing aby LGR14 - Hockey

Re: This Year Around The League - 7 years ago
KeithK jkahn Trotsky nshapiro I am ok with the shootout, but the effect should be de-emphasized, especially the creation of the extra point in the standings. Each game should be worth 5 points - 5 - regulation win 4 - overtime win 3 - shootout win 2 - shootout loss 1 - overtime loss 0 - regulation loss No. No, no, no, no, no. No. The ECAC does this one thing exactly right, and eveby LGR14 - Hockey

Re: @Yale - 8 years ago
Al DeFlorio dbilmes Hillbrich's line had some of our best pressure during the first period, so his absence was notable as the game wore on. The first Yale penalty was for boarding. Since it took place at the far end of the week, I couldn't tell which of our players was the victim, but if it was Hillbrich, that would explain why he didn't play much the rest of the way. andyw2100 I'm coming to this thread a little late, but have some info that may be of interest. Chris '03 There are a total of 190 returning undergrad and 76 returning grad ticket holders, holding numbers for a total of 355 tickets (less than 10% of Lynah).
