Re: 2019-01-04: Cornell 3 Princeton 2 - 5 years ago
marty Jeff Hopkins '82 The one frustrating thing was the TV timeouts. They'd go through the first 12 minutes of a period without a whistle, It was wonderful. But they then managed to jam three TV timeouts into a 2-1/2 minute span so they got them all in. Ugh. Can anyone here shed light on when the refs can and can't call for a TV time out? I assume it can't be after an icing infraction. It sby LGR14 - Hockey

As close as a lot of these games have been this year (and against most subpar competition), the underlying advanced stats for Cornell look pretty good. The next few weeks should tell us a lot.by LGR14 - Hockey

David Harding Jim Hyla Roy 82 Beeeej The description acknowledges that he cannot say for certain it's the game puck from that game. Hmmm. A bit of amateur sleuthing: In 1964 Tyer Rubber company became Converse and the puck logo should reflect that if it is from 1967 (maybe they got a deal on old pucks?). The puck logo on eBay says "Tyer". The description states: "Found in theby LGR14 - Hockey

LynahFaithful Is it possible we could have a new coach this coming year? Schafer's youngest child is graduating from Cornell this spring and this might be the time for him to retire... I'm NOT saying it's going to happen, but all things considered, I could see it happen. Would be absolutely shocked if he doesn't come back next year, given that we are going to begin the season as legitimatby LGR14 - Hockey

If the NCAA really wanted to shake things up, they would place all of the teams into each of the regions 2-4, and then let the #1 seeds choose where they want to go.by LGR14 - Hockey

Trotsky LGR14 PSU sells every single one of its games. I'm not sure why all of you think that they won't attend an NCAA regional being hosted on their own campus.Allentown is 175 miles from State College. The same distance as Ithaca. Ah I have been overlooking the "Allentown" part this whole time. I join the calls that it is inane to call PSU (or any team) the "host."by LGR14 - Hockey

I got hit with the auto renewal last year and sent them a pretty terse email to the effect of "I forgot to cancel, I don't want 4 more months, I want the refund.See you next hockey season." They got back to me within an hour and I was refunded. They will respond.by LGR14 - Hockey

Re: cu- lowell - 7 years ago
andyw2100 It was ruled a goal on the ice. There was not, in my opinion, irrefutable evidence that the puck was played with a high-stick. It was an incredibly close call. If it's that close, the refs should allow the call on the ice to stand. I definitely feel like the refs are looking at the replays, and simply making a call based on what they see, with no regard for what was called on the iceby LGR14 - Hockey
Re: cu- lowell - 7 years ago
The rule, at least in the NHL, is that the point of contact cannot be above the crossbar. At least to me, I thought it looked like the point of contact WAS above the crossbar. My problem is that I'm not sure why it was reviewable. If the puck had gone in off the high-stick, fine. But now what's the line? If the puck is played with a potential high-stick, waived off, then three minutes later tby LGR14 - Hockey

I love the idea that "Cornell was screwed" despite being kept away from a team that they have gone 0-3 against this year and is the hottest in the nation. Lowell being a relatively slightly more difficult first hurdle is balanced by Minnesota being a relatively slightly not as difficult second hurdle. Either way, Cornell is going to end the season as champions or not. If they're going tby LGR14 - Hockey

CU2007 Hooking Statistically, how much tougher an opponent is UML than WMU? One spot in the pairwise? I think WMU would have been a significantly better matchup for us (though obviously not easy). Lowell is GOOD and was really hot down the stretch. Though I agree with this, I am much happier with a potential second round of Minnesota than I am of Harvard. underskill btw, have gamewatches gone totally out the window? I know Ship of Fools has been gone for several years and the games are far more accessible than 5-10 years ago, or is it just a sign of waning fandom. If Cornell, the school, were doing it right, they'd buy the game tonight and set up a giant watch party in Duffield or Statler or something.by LGR14 - Hockey

Jim Hyla wakester2468 Why is it that most other internet video offering from other schools show replays? We pay for this sub par product so it's the least they could do. Never mind the fact that most non Ivy School offer the games for free but that takes me back to posts month ago. Not sure the fee is solely a Cornell issue. Re: Cornell @ Clarkson 2017-02-18 - 7 years ago
Beeeej Iceberg And with the tie I think Cornell is guaranteed a BYE now. Q is 5 points behind with only 2 games left for each team. Cornell is now guaranteed the bye. I don't think I've ever seen a team with a power play to begin overtime seem like they wanted to win less than Cornell just did. Extremely timid. Didn't look like they had any idea of what to do.by LGR14 - Hockey
Re: Rankings - 7 years ago
wakester2468 By my calculations, which admittedly have not always been perfect, Cornell has already clinched a first round bye. In the worst case scenario, there could either be a three way tie for 3rd, a 3 way tie for 4th, a 2 way tie for 3rd or a 2 way tie for 4th. In all instances, Cornell has the tie breaker beating STL twice and splitting with Q. If it gets to the next tie breaking criterby LGR14 - Hockey

Dafatone LGR14 GBR1234 What are the PWR implications of the Harvard v. BU game? A Harvard win helps a little bit but probably not enough to move to 12th. A BU win knocks CU back to 14th. Are you certain of that? It's the BC/Providence comparison that BC upsets to tie us. We beat them with a decent chunk of RPI edge. Not sure that'd flip. Harvard win is good for a .5496 RPI. BearLover I am no fan of Rand Pecknold, but have to hand it to him: he's the only coach I've seen at any level ballsy enough to make the mathematically superior decision of pulling his goalie with 3 minutes left instead of the usual 1 or 1:30 remaining.
