Re: Lacrosse-Rob Pannell Status - 12 years ago
RichH Tune every heart and every voice, Bid every care withdraw; Let all with one accord rejoice, In praise of Old Nassau. In praise of Old Nassau we sing, Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah! Our hearts will give while we shall live, Three cheers for Old Nassau. Thank you Princeton for cheering on my home county on Long Island. We appreciate it very much.by jtn27 - Other Sports
Re: Lacrosse-Rob Pannell Status - 12 years ago
RichH jtn27 More tempting than the chance to go pro? I shut my sarcasm detector down much earlier tonight, so I can't really get a read if you're serious, but lacrosse is one of those sports that is MUCH more glamorous at the college level than the pros. It's the college stars who dominate the magazine covers. Top teams get to play in front of 40,000+ on championship weekend with a national Tby jtn27 - Other Sports

Trotsky scoop85 Jim Hyla Once again we see how bad a bench coach Harvard has. (Terrible sentence, sorry) I generally agree with that sentiment, although they did just pound us 6-1.Did that happen? I'm not sure that actually happened. It didn't happen. If it had happened, we would not have been in the "Elite 8" (I'm not sure what the actual term is, so I'm stealing the basketballby jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Alumni in the Pros: April 2012 - 12 years ago
Jim Hyla Luke 05 As expected, Moulson balances Bitz out for Cornell sportsmanship and is nominated for the only award in professional sports with "Lady" in the name: If I was voting, I'd probably go with Campbell. To me it just seems harder for a defenseman to not get penalties than a forward. However I don't have any data to back that up. I don't have any data to back that up eby jtn27 - Hockey

ithacat Swampy Johnny 5 David Harding committing what happens to kids that graduate in 3 years? are they told they cant play a 4 commit year?Right, not at Cornell. But they can go to a non-Ivy for graduate school and play there for a year. Wow! Maybe he could play for Syracuse next year?! I will now commit seppuku. Re: Generic Off Season Thread - 12 years ago
RichH The NCAA requires teams moving to Division I to undergo a 2-year "transition" period where they are ineligible for NCAA post-season play. What's the logic behind that rule? I highly doubt that a first or second year DI program could make the playoffs, but if they were good enough they should be eligible.by jtn27 - Hockey
Re: Slope Day on Wednesdays - 12 years ago
There have been a few other articles about this in the past month or two. I don't think reducing alcohol consumption has anything to do with it. Nor do I think moving Slope Day to a Wednesday would have any significant effect on alcohol consumption. I think the reason Slope Day would move is that the University wants to add a few extra days off without changing the number of class days.by jtn27 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Lacrosse-Rob Pannell Status - 12 years ago
Seems unlikely that Pannell will be back for Princeton. Ben DeLuca said @Inside_Lacrosse report that Pannell has returned to practice is not correct. Says rehab is progressing but not practicing— Brian Delaney (@BDelaney_1160) April 21, 2012by jtn27 - Other Sports

jtwcornell91 Ben marty KeithK Of course not. Taft is dead. So although dead people vote it is inappropriate to vote for the dead? Article II doesn't actually specify that candidates for President must be alive. Tell that to Horace Greeley. Actually, Greeley was alive at the time of the election. He died shortly afterwards.by jtn27 - Hockey

Re: Generic Off Season Thread - 12 years ago
KeithK jtn27 KeithK Hey, no fair! How can I take a generic thread off topic? The opposite of a generic offseason thread would be a specific season thread. I'm not exactly sure what that would be, but good luck. Maybe I'll have to post some relevant information about next season here come November. I was thinking more along the lines of talking about a specific game from this past season, butby jtn27 - Hockey

Re: Harvard 6 Cornell 1 ECAC post-game & site critique - 12 years ago
billhoward Maybe Albany could offer a buyout to AC to start a year early? Don't hold your breath waiting for that. There seems to be a lot of hope here that maybe the ECAC Tournament will not be held in AC next year. While it's always a possibility that the venue will change, I've seen nothing to indicate it might. The ECAC and Boardwalk Hall signed a contract and it would probably be very diffby jtn27 - Hockey

Scersk '97 jtn27 According to an article in the Schenectady Daily Gazette, the ECAC will finish out the third year of its contract with Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall... That's not how I read it. Perhaps it's wishful thinking, but I found a blissful lack of certitude regarding where next year's tournament will be, e.g., Hagwell did not weigh in to say, "Gee, we'll definitely be back in ACby jtn27 - Hockey

According to an article in the Schenectady Daily Gazette, the ECAC will finish out the third year of its contract with Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall, and is accepting bids for the tournament for 2014-16. Albany's Times-Union Center has already announced that it will submit a bid. Atlantic City, Lake Placid, Bridgeport, and Providence are also expected to submit bids.by jtn27 - Hockey

Before Monday night's Rangers-Senators game there was a short ceremony honoring four members of the Canadian women's hockey team. I missed the introductions at the start so I don't know which players they were. Did anyone see if any of them were Cornellians?by jtn27 - Hockey

Swampy Cop at Lynah I can't remember where I heard it - but it was said that they were looking to have Rob on the field for a few minutes during the Brown game and if he came out of it o.k. then he would be a go for the Princeton game and beyond. Seems like an odd strategy for the coaching staff. It it were me, I'd keep RP's status secret until I'm ready to use him for real in a game. I'd use sby jtn27 - Other Sports

Re: National Collegiate Hockey Conference - 12 years ago
RichH Jim Hyla This doesn't belong here, but doesn't deserve its own post, IMO. Clarkson goalie Rosen is sponsoring a charity contest to design his helmet artwork. I was about to suggest that we submit pro-Cornell artwork or something that says Sieve. If it goes to a fan vote there's a very small possibility we could get it on his helmet.by jtn27 - Hockey

css228 Aaron M. Griffinjavascript:editor_tools_handle_center() Interesting analysis of what would have been the revenues of each conference had realignment occurred prior to the 2009-10 season. Cornell nets the seventh best total of all NCAA Division I programs with $585,585.00. Unsurprisingly, B1G Hockey, without the addition of Penn State hockey revenues, was the greatest with a net total of $by jtn27 - Hockey
