Re: Cornell and Monmouth in football - 11 years ago
jeff '84 Looks like 41-38 Cornell. Minute left. What happened to Matthews? Neck injury from the Harvard game. The Press newspaper said he was day to day but was improving, and being this was a non-conference game probably wise to let him heal fully before the start of the 5 remaining Ivy on the schedule.by Ken711 - Other Sports

Cornell and Monmouth in football - 11 years ago
First ever meeting between these schools. It's going to be very difficult for Cornell's defense to control the line of scrimmage against a huge Monmouth OL that averages over 300 lbs. Cornell's receivers need to step it up and we need to have some sort of running game to take the pressure off of Mathews.by Ken711 - Other Sports
Cornell at Harvard in football - 11 years ago
Going to be a very tough game to win against a talented Harvard team given the injuries Cornell still has. Shane Savage still out, starting safety Laird out, and Bullington the center still questionable for the game, meaning the center snaps could again be a problem as was the case in the Bucknell game.by Ken711 - Other Sports
Re: Football prospects for 2012 - 12 years ago
ugarte Al DeFlorio Ken711 Cornell picked up a great late commitment from an All-State Texas HS dual-threat QB. video: Thanks. Seems like a good guy as well as a good quarterback. On the radar for Baylor? So what. It's not like Baylor has any history with quarterbacks. I think the point is he had offers from BCS schools, and instead decided his academic goals were most important.by Ken711 - Other Sports

Re: CFL team still interested in Kent Austin - 12 years ago
For his part, Austin insisted that money had nothing to do with his decision, dispelling reports he was seeking a lucrative deal with a CFL team. “Contrary to reports in the media, money was not a factor at all in this decision,” Austin said. “In fact, I have turned down several offers since my arrival at Cornell that would have paid substantially more than I am making here (most recently an oby Ken711 - Other Sports

Re: Mathews named nominee for Bushnell POY award - 12 years ago
Ken711 Great to have a Cornell winner as a sophomore! Now we have 2 more years to continue to build a championship program around Mathews to bring Cornell an Ivy football championship. Can't argue with you there. Be nice to see some more size on the DL.by Ken711 - Other Sports

ugarte Ken711 billhoward Still waiting for a late-season surge away from Cornell in the direction of Steele Stanwick. Or Barbara Stanwyck. Bill you lost me on this one? The parallel is Steele Stanwick taking POY away from Rob Pannell on the strength of the UVA national title.[/quote I see, thanks. It's honor to be nominated for Mathews and what he meant to the team's improvement. Again, Iby Ken711 - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio Ken711 Going to be close between Mathews and Schwieger. Schwieger being a senior and unanimous All-Ivy selection may have the edge. Hopefully, they'll consider co-Player of the Year awards as they did last year. Reads to me like there are always two winners: one for offense; one for defense. Schweiger won the "offense" award last year. There were co-offensive POY awaby Ken711 - Other Sports

Ben Ken711 Imhoff not on the at last the 2nd team is an oversight in my view. Also, because Mathews wasn't a unanimous selection on the 1st team will probably hurt his chances for Player of the Year.[/quote Haters gonna hate. Imhoff second in sacks and first in tackles for loss it's just amazing he wasn't at least on the 2nd team, don't know what more he could do. Mathews certainly deservesby Ken711 - Other Sports

Re: Some "D" in Cornell - Penn game - 12 years ago
billhoward Ken711Dartmouth's tailback Nick Schwieger is the more likely competition for Player of the Year award with Jeff Mathews. Harvard's QB Collier Winters only played in 5 of the 7 Ivy games. Winters took two cracks at the Rhodes Scholarship thing. Yale's QB Witt probably wished he skipped the Harvard game where they got blasted and instead went to the Rhodes Scholarship interview last Sby Ken711 - Other Sports
Re: Some "D" in Cornell - Penn game - 12 years ago
dbilmes Josh '99 What an absurd couple of weeks Jeff Mathews has had! As if rewriting the single-game record book last week wasn't enough, Mathews is now the only Ivy quarterback with two games with over 500 passing yards. While we're at it, Mathews set some league records yesterday: Most passing yards in a season, 3412 (James Perry, Brown, 1999, 3255) Most passing yards in an Ivy season, 2by Ken711 - Other Sports
