Re: Best Hockey Books? - 12 years ago
David Harding KeithK Jacob '06 Probably the most obvious first choice for this board. The obvious choice and exactly why I read it. A good book both because he has a good story to tell and, unlike most sports figures, he can actually write. A lot of insight into what drives an athlete. Re: National Collegiate Hockey Conference - 12 years ago
scoop85 Jeff Hopkins '82 Actually it's a presumptuous name, IMO. They're national, everyone else is regional. My first thought exactly. I'm surprised NCAA allowed the name because of the likelihood of how National Collegiate Hockey Conference Champs would be (mis)construed by non college hockey insiders.by jeff '84 - Hockey

From Inside Lacrosse: Quint Kessenich answers: Who Should Win the 2011 Tewaaraton? "The Tewaaraton has typically gone to the best player on the best team. Playoff wins and exposure during the NCAA tournament have meant a ton. But this year is different. The best player resides in Ithaca, N.Y., and it isn't debateable. Start engraving the trophy with the name Rob Pannell."by jeff '84 - Other Sports
Re: CU-SU Lacrosse Tonight - 13 years ago
scoop85 TimV Oh nooooo! They have us right where they want us!!! Who amongst us doesn't have that exact thought on their minds (ah, the lament of a paranoid sports fan) Two quick goals by Orange cuts it to 7-4, but Lang answers. 8-4, 9 mins to go in third.by jeff '84 - Other Sports

Swampy jeff '84 Swampy jeff '84 Speaking of shutouts -- seems like it's been a long time since CU hasn't thrown one shutout (not including USA development team) in a season. Now would be a good time. Boy, it does seem like a long time. Doesn't it? So when was the last time Cornell went through a season without two shutouts? heh - y2k apparently. Now would be a good time for Iles to getby jeff '84 - Hockey

gatefan I know I'm a Colgate fan, but the way I see it is that for Cornell to have won last Saturday, he would have needed a shutout. You can't ask for much more than what he did. It was the offense's fault that you guys did not sweep. Speaking of shutouts -- seems like it's been a long time since CU hasn't thrown one shutout (not including USA development team) in a season. kingpin248 Moulson gets his 27th of the year against the Maple Leafs; he collected a bouncing puck from the point and easily put it into an open net. They are going to interview him again between periods, coming up shortly... msg +by jeff '84 - Hockey

jeff '84 Moulson just got #22 and an interview coming up on MSG plus. Former NY Ranger Mike Backman has two daughters - one married to Matt, one married to LA Kings goalie Jonathan Quick - who Matt scored on tonite. Edit -- make that two goals against brother in law -- #23.by jeff '84 - Hockey

billhoward jkahn Historical Footnote: The last time we lost the first three games of the season ('79-'80), we won the ECAC Championship. As an 8th seed, we defeated #1 BC, #2 Providence and #3 Dartmouth. I had the pleasure of being at those 3 tournament games. That was an amazing run for Cornell, coming on the heels of Team USA in the Olympics. By coincidence, I found the Boston Globe articlesby jeff '84 - Hockey
