Re: New NCAA rules - what's wrong with shootout? - 15 years ago
I completely agree. For four years on the hill, tie-games were somehow harder to swallow than losses. I'm not a fan of shootouts, but I like ties a lot less. A tie hockey game is like getting a stripper for your birthday...an ugly stripper with visible bullet wounds...by LaJollaRed - Hockey
Topher plays for Elmira - 1 game. 1 assist. - 16 years ago
The Daily Sun reported that Topher Scott signed with the Elmira Jackals. He's still planning to graduate, right? It seems crazy not to. In his opening game, the team lost, but he managed an assist. One game, one point. Congrats.by LaJollaRed - Hockey

Forget the ballot stuffing. This guy writes like a five year-old. Honestly, who edits that page? 2 Minutes for Gassing it.by LaJollaRed - Hockey
6 More Wins - Starting tomorrow - 16 years ago
So I got out my linear programing chart, wrist calculator, sextant, and abacus.... Guess what? Six more wins and we're national champions. Discuss? Let's go red!!!by LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: Cornell on TV and internet, redone 3/6 - 16 years ago
Anyone know if tonight's game will be replayed in Ithaca? My TV tells me it won't be live on TWS, as I hoped, but any chance of the replay?by LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: First Union Postgame - 16 years ago
Strange, I don't usually agree with most things you write about the fans, but I agree that Red Jacket guy was so completely out of line. In fact, a lot of the Union crowd was pretty goonish. After the game some chest-painters tried to pick a fight with us in the parking lot...It nearly got pretty interesting. I was later informed that there's still a lot of anti cornell sentiment on campus, stby LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: ECAC Round 1: Post-series Thread - 16 years ago
Fantastic game. Great crowd energy, great team energy. In section A we noticed Topher look into the stands and smile - I believe it's the first time in 4 years he looked up during the game. What dedication - that kid's amazing. Mike Devine was a fantastic good sport. His stick salute as he exited the ice was a class act, and he should be commended. For it. If you can't have fun losing, quit.by LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: "There's a hole in your sock, Joe Grossman" - 16 years ago
Hi everyone-- Thank you so much for the great laughs this season. I hope we have more fun to come as the team moves into the playoffs. The Grossman song: The backup goalie for 'Mouth had two holes in his right sock behind his leg pad. Being me, I noticed it. The song, a lá Elysiah, was this: There's a HOLE in your sock, Joe Grossman, Joe Grossman! There's a hole in your sock I see!!! (xby LaJollaRed - Hockey

BOTH of these emails have horrific mistakes in them. Can you find them all?! A prize to the winner!by LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: Vote for Topher - 16 years ago
I voted for him... From the website: Classroom:Scott carries a 2.90 cumulative grade point average following the fall 2007 semester, including a 3.26 GPA during that grading period. A sociology major, he is enrolled in one of the most challenging majors at Cornell University.by LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: Brown Rookie of the Week charged in child porn case - 16 years ago
Wow... I think Brown just wrote its own "Throw Your Clipboard" chant. Seriously, that's horrible. It's likely that she wasn't a "child" but just underage, right? Anyone know anything more?by LaJollaRed - Hockey
USCHO - 16 years ago
I might be going insane, but I think the USCHO website now comes with unrelated radio announcements for things as diverse as the LA auto show and flood insurance. Also, I think that website does a poor job of updating stats, and an even poorer jobs providing game summaries. Is there someone who generally writes the Cornell game reports? I often feel like Lynah games never come with a recap.by LaJollaRed - Hockey
BROWN Pregame. What can it do for you? - 16 years ago
8 hours until Puckdrop. Let's hear it. Last weekend was a bit painful....Everything I've read predicts a 4 point weekend to revenge the wound. Thoughts? Questions? Comments? Concerns? Snide Remarks? As a personal diatribe, I'm going to say right here and now that I think all feces-related shouts, poop jokes, crap references, fecal-matter-memorabilia, scat-skates, bowel-ballads, and colon coby LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: Wow - A Charlestown Chiefs mask! - 16 years ago
No! Unfortunately, he wasn't wearing the socks. I had gone to that game expecting him to wear them. That was the same winter break that I stood behind the bench trying to get Matt Underhill's attention for 3 periods. He didn't play that day, nor was he as excited to see a Lynah Faithful shirt as I'd hoped he'd be.by LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: Wow - A Charlestown Chiefs mask! - 16 years ago
This showed up on NHL.com today. Really cool stuff. Also, I remember once watching Dov-Grumet Morris play in San Diego wearing the Sucks helmet I'd seen him in the year before at Lynah, and then, only a few days later I got to see Silverthorne wearing his Colgate Moron Maroon helmet. ...I miss the San Diego Gulls so much. Winter break blows without them.by LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - December 2007 - 16 years ago
I have no idea...But according to the Internet Hockey Database, I shouldn't really feel bad about knowing who that is. The Hockey DB is a great website. They're Cornell records are remarkably up to date.by LaJollaRed - Hockey
The Michigan - 16 years ago
Fantastic game, I thought. Scrivens was terrific, and I'm excited to see what this does to his SV%. The fans were louder and roudier than I've heard them in a long time. Cheers lasted a long time, and many were new and funny. I suspect some people went to their first ever hockey game this past weekend, in a certain garden somewhere, and decided to go to a second game tonight. A certain conversby LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 at Dartmouth 1 postgame - 16 years ago
I was at the game. IMO Krueger didn't deserve the DQ. He and the Dartmouth player kept each other at arms length and circled for a few moments without really throwing much of a punch. Scali had some pretty determined shoving, and I think he deserved the DQ just as much as the Dartmouth player. Interesting: I wonder if anyone else noticed that Greening left the bench to join the fight, but tby LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 at Dartmouth 1 postgame - 16 years ago
In my opinion, Berk did exactly what the defenseman is supposed to do in that situation, and it's a save he makes most of the time. On a 2-1 rush, the defender is supposed to "take the pass" allowing the goalie to focus entirely on the player with the puck. I've been taught (told) to imagine it as though it was a 2-goalie situation. Berk is meant to block the "shot" to theby LaJollaRed - Hockey

So, for real this time, is there any footage of this now famous goal?by LaJollaRed - Hockey
Nash Goal! - 16 years ago
So all I keep hearing about is this amazing Nash Goal. Ari liked it more than I think I've ever seen him like anything. Does ANYONE have video of it? Some photos? One giant cotton photo-rug from Wegmans?by LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5, Quinnipiac 3 (postgame) - 16 years ago
Up until that point, I wanted Berk to be named Player of the Weekend. Last night he had three phenomenal blocks on his stomach, added two more tonight before being sent to the locker room, and some great stuff on offense. He's one to watch. Barlow was fantastic tonight. The second period presented the team with three very difficult situations, 2 of which led to goals...Not bad. Oh jesusby LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: Ottawa Postgame - 16 years ago
I nominate Doug to write the column. Attendence was awful BEFORE the game and for most of the opening frame, but by the middle of the second period sections A and B were tightly packed. I just wish people would get there on time, or, at least, those who show up 45 minutes late don't make a big deal about not getting their seat. I know they've paid to have it reserved, but come on....Come on.by LaJollaRed - Hockey
Re: Ticket Numbers and Camp Out - 16 years ago
Yeah, but why "weed out" anyone when you haven't sold all the tickets!? Look - I'm all for tradition. I think we should go back to a first-come first serve line, where you get to Barton mid-September with sleeping bags and a tent. But, seriously - what have everyone spend the night in the Ramen room? They have to pay for supervision, for security, for insurance, for facilities...by LaJollaRed - Hockey
