Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Lax: Cornell 7 - Dartmouth 5 - 12 years ago
billhoward Holding Dartmouth to 5 is the mark of a good defense. Putting up just 7 on a second-tier Ivy team, however ... Get well, soon, Rob. The ESPNU commentators at the K-M Classic yesterday seemed to concur.by Johnny 5 - Other Sports

Jim Hyla Johnny 5 Swampy Johnny 5 Sorry. I know there is a "key injuries" thread, but I was afraid this might get lost. Is anyone aware of his progress to date? Or, if he's lost for the season, any possibility he might be eligible to red-shirt (would he even consider it) next year? God, I hate the thought of a loss to those OCC grad students! jtn27 I tried looking for some news articles about him but couldn't find very much. This is the most recent article that makes mention of his injury. Mark Larson ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell men's lacrosse team has perservered to a 6-1 start this season despite playing the last five games without Tewaaraton favorite Rob Pannell. Pannell is still not participating in practice sessions and gettiby Johnny 5 - Other Sports

css228 Trotsky Per BRPH, Mitch Gillam for fall 2013. So is Marozzi starting to look like a third stringer or will he and Gillam compete for the job when Iles' time on the hill is up? And, what about poor Omar?by Johnny 5 - Hockey

A Union win may be great for EZ-AC hockey, but Union will always be just Ivy League wannabees!by Johnny 5 - Hockey

ugarte Johnny 5 Todd R During the intermission in the ND-MN game, they showed highlights of our game. I guess I missed it the first time, but on the first goal that Ferris State scored (on the PP in opening seconds of the third period), our center broke his stick on the faceoff. He skated to the bench to grab another one, making it a five on three for just long enough to matter. Talk about badby Johnny 5 - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 Johnny 5 flyersgolf I love Andy Iles, but both goals he was flopping. I also think fitness is an issue at the end of games against good skating teams and seems to get worse at the end of the season. Next year expectations are higher! If we get an effective PP watch out. Nice season, but missed opportunity. Poor Ferlin must have been dying watching. Many very good hockey playby Johnny 5 - Hockey

End of first: Us 0 - Them 0. So, have we set a NCAA playoff record for penalty minutes yet? The announcers for ESPN suspect we're lulling them into a false sense of security.by Johnny 5 - Hockey

O.K., but explain this to me.... The CU website says game time is 9pm local time or 1:30pm EDT?? Huh???by Johnny 5 - Hockey
Re: RPI TV ROCKS - 12 years ago
In the name of all things holy I wish to thank Dr. Seuss' only son Jay. It must have been his divine intervention that prevented the national media from broadcasting this debacle. Our recruiting might otherwise have suffered harm of biblical proportions.by Johnny 5 - Hockey
Re: RPI TV ROCKS - 12 years ago
ChipJ 4-0 now. We are getting wiped off the ice. Ugly. 7 shots for 2 periods. McCarron takes an ugly/unnecessary penalty while we're on the PP. Isles going down on almost every shot. Team skating like they're on 'ludes. WTF, guys!!!???by Johnny 5 - Hockey

jtwcornell91 css228 Johnny 5 css228 Ben css228Yes it should, which is why I propose the tourney be held in Vladivostok. Time to live up to our rep folks. That would be an awesome trip. I can just imagine the puzzled Russian security folks at the airport when a load of Cornell fans arrive. I was going to respond to you in Russian, but the forum doesn't allow posting with Cyrillic alphabets. Coulby Johnny 5 - Hockey

I would also, regardless of what happens tonight, like to nominate Espo for the Ironman award. What an effort!!by Johnny 5 - Hockey

Dafatone Redscore Don't know what to say, when you have to have it..... Expect nothing from this team. I'm looking ahead already. To next year I mean.... How dare they only finish in 2nd in the conference in a year that they weren't expected to dominate. How dare they. At least it wasn't another damn tie!! Re: Cornell games VHS to DVD - 12 years ago
How's 'bout the '92 team doing "Swan Lake" with Tim Button & JoJo Starbuck?? Tutu's and all! Adorable. Or, for those with true, raging CHOCD I have Joe Nieuwendyk's actual, autographed, 2001 NYS fishing license! What a treasure trove!! So, No Espo or Ferlin for the Onion game. Anybody else questionable?by Johnny 5 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 Clarkson 1 - 12 years ago
However, again they squandered a lead in period 3 & were left with a (program record?) tie. Given their play of late, plus the number of bumps & bruises (is Ferlin hurt now?) do they have any reasonable chance of advancing this season?by Johnny 5 - Hockey

Re: Cornell Hockey Memes - 12 years ago
Jim Hyla Ben Because why not. (This is a sensation sweeping Facebook.) All the more reason not to do it here. If I could only get these guys to work together. Maybe Shafe could have them watch a replay of the Mercyhurst women's game? No 3rd period letup for the Big Red Ladies! "How do you know she's a witch?" "She's made of wood.....??"by Johnny 5 - Hockey

Re: 2/3/12_Cornell_RPI_2-2 tie - 12 years ago
Another lead squandered. Yes, Birch was out early, but that wasn't it. Nor was it the lack of Espo. They just seem to run out of gas. Consistently beaten to the puck in the 3rd period & OT. And, yes Isles made some stellar saves. But, he still spends way too much time on his belly. Back in the fall I thought, well, they're young....but, the freshmen are highly regarded. Maybe they'll suby Johnny 5 - Hockey
