Re: "When The Red Come Skating In" - 1 year ago
JasonN95 The Rancor "ref beats his wife" is one long gone, and good riddance. Sadly, 3 blind mice is gone, with the addition of the fourth official. Long Diiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeee always bothered me, but I've lived with it. Combining that cheer with the other distasteful “the ref f*cks sheep” into “the ref beats his sheep” did amuse me. On at least one occasion, that morphed back into &by DisplacedCornellian - Hockey
Re: 2022-23 Men's Schedule - 1 year ago
dag14 Umm, hockey schedule updates anyone? Didn't notice January 14 @ BU on the list...that could be fun. Tough start to the year though. 4 out of the first 6 games at UMD, QU and Clarkson has the potential to be ROUGH.by DisplacedCornellian - Hockey
Re: Miami 12/1-2 - Online Streaming - 6 years ago
Beeeej upprdeck You would think that the IVY league would have its act together and not have people pay to watch their teams games on the ivy network and then have to pay a full fee again to watch it on some other schools network.. I'm not against paying twice but it shouldn't be a full fee as though we weren't already paying for games.. The leagues could work out some arrangement if just a litby DisplacedCornellian - Hockey
Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
nshapiro KGR11 I did some data analysis based on what BearLover's saying. I found the ECAC'S OOC winning % for each year for Schafer's tenure (Source: CHN) and plotted it against the number of Cornell NCAA Tournament games (TBRW). There is a negative correlation: A 10% increase in ECAC OOC% means a 0.33 decrease in the number of NCAA tournament games Cornell plays (Rsquared value=0.04). This cby DisplacedCornellian - Hockey

Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
BearLover Selection committee's prioritizing profits over merit pits us against the fourth- rather than eighth-best team in the country. fifth rather than sixth in the rankings that they actually use to make the selections, but don't let that spoil your righteous indignation.by DisplacedCornellian - Hockey

1-1 tie...not a bad result against a quick team that has played quite a bit more hockey than the Red at this point. What happened to Ryan? Didn't seem like he was out there at all during the 3rd period or during overtime.by DisplacedCornellian - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 - Niagara 2 - 10 years ago
andyw2100 Chris '03 According to John Buccigross, Gillam is only the third NCAA goalie to score a goal, ever. Video on sportscenter. I'd be willing to bet he's the first NCAA player ever to lead his team in both goals against average and goals scored per game at the same time. It's the system.by DisplacedCornellian - Hockey

Re: Title-games Record - 13 years ago
Trotsky kaelistus Have we really been to the championship game 10 times in 16 (?) years? That's just absolutely amazing.Yepper. During Schafer's tenure: 10 (5-5) Cornell 7 (3-4) Harvard 5 (2-3) Clarkson 3 (2-1) St. Lawrence 2 (2-0) Princeton 2 (2-0) Yale 1 (0-1) Quinnipiac 1 (0-1) RPI 1 (0-1) Union 0 Brown, Colgate, Dartmouth Schafer's stats are inflated. He's a system coach.by DisplacedCornellian - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros_ March 2011 - 13 years ago
RatushnyFan What did Dougie do to draw 17 PIM from Steve Ott? Atta boy! Looks like a tough night on paper for Greening (-3), I didn't see the game though. Ott was upset about this hit by Murray, so he decided he wanted to try to fight Douglas. Ott really is a punk.by DisplacedCornellian - Hockey

Re: USCHO Picks Union - 14 years ago
reilly83 sah67 Roy 82 Apparently. Jason Klump says in his blog that Cornell fans as usual cannot win with class because they did a Winning team-Losing team cheer. Jason Klump also mistook the team's traditional stick salute to the fans as a salute to Yale when we lost the OT game at Lynah a few weeks ago. He felt the need to argue over the course of several pages on the USCHO Yale thread thby DisplacedCornellian - Hockey

Re: Clarkson hockey players face sex charges - 14 years ago
Jerseygirl if you want to get technical (a drunk woman can't consent to sex), lots o' rape. This has always seemed a bit fuzzy to me. At what point of drinking does the ability to give consent disappear? Clearly, an unconscious individual cannot give consent. But how drunk is too drunk? Can a drunk MAN consent to sex, or has every drunk dude who ever got some been raped? The idea ofby DisplacedCornellian - Hockey

Rich S The senseless manner in which you guys have responded to the Bemidji fan's mostly thoughtful nd sensible post makes we wonder. Is that your reply only because you're still bitter at your team's loss to his team? Or is it just another example of the feeling that you dislike posters from another school on your board? Or maybe the earlier post says it best about your replies..."by DisplacedCornellian - Hockey

sah67Rich Sabsurd "logic." Not really...there's a mathematical formula that unequivocally proves Clarkson's status as a third-rate engineering school, as Kyle and Ugarte were clearly explaining. Clarkson is a third-rate tech school. Nickerson has syphilis. Clarkson habitually chokes in the NCAAs. Harvard sucks. Mark Morris beats his players. Clarkson is a bunch of goons. Re: I hate to say this, but... - 15 years ago
Josh '99 We really are spoiled in terms of what we expect from Cornell goalies, aren't we? Is it too much to expect an All American every year? I don't think so. Scrivens is decidedly average. Not up to the recent standard of Cornell goalies, but not terrible either. His inconsistency drives me crazy, though. I, too, think Schafer needs to stick/return to his style of big, punishingby DisplacedCornellian - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 Northeastern 2 (Postgame thread) - 15 years ago
trainbowSome observations from the box score: Cornell won only 40% of the faceoffs. Schafer's comments on that: 'When asked how they can improve their faceoff draws in Sunday’s Midwest Regional final, Cornell head coach Mike Schafer didn’t hesitate. “It’s really easy. We’re not going to have to play against Joe Vitale. We heard he was good coming into the game. He was unbelievable.by DisplacedCornellian - Hockey
