The 149th pick in the 2006 draft was Juuso Puustinen of Kalpa Jrs., Finland, by the Calgary Flames. What's your point? Re: North Dakota Postgame 1/23 - 14 years ago
Travis 02 I thought the 2nd ND goal resulted from a lackadaisical breakout, but also our guy was tripped right in front of our net as the puck was being skated out. That's how I saw it from section F. Funny thing was, I thought I heard the Cornell goal announced with 9 seconds remaining as "Theeeee TYING Cornell goal, scored by . . . ". I swear he said "tying". Re: Retire Cornell jersey numbers - 14 years ago
KeithK Are there any specific requirements to be in the Cornell Athletics Hall of Fame? (Aside from playing a sport at Cornell, of course). The baseball HoF, for instance, requires a ten year career and then a five year wait after retirement. Anything similar here? Playing (or, for that matter, coaching) a sport at Cornell isn't even a requirement for induction into the Cornell Athletics Halby ACM - Hockey

TrotskyrediceAfter that, we can look forward to the gamblers complaining when it gets moved to some other illogical place... Since it seems to be moving in an ever-expanding counter-clockwise spiral, the next stop should be Bermuda. minThanks for the good wishes, too. I hope that the two schools can arrange a home-and-home series in the future. I have no proof, but I think there is enough good will and/or interest among the fans of both schools. According to the records kept by our de facto historian (TBRW), Wisconsin has never visited Lynah, and Cornell never returned to Madison after two NC games in Dec 86. Did somethiby ACM - Hockey

kirbs2587I am doing a research project for one of my classes and we are looking at how the Gary Glitter cheer affects the players at home games. If someone could help me out that would be great. I need to find the stats for goals in the 3rd, 3rd faceoff wins, possession, opponents scoring, and penalties. Thanks so much! BMacOther random question for Trotsky/ACM/other historians: How many teams has Cornell played that no longer exist? Penn and Wayne St. come to mind. It would be funny if the number of teams we haven't yet played in D-I was smaller than the number of teams we have played but no longer exist. Re: Bracket Predictions - 15 years ago
GermI don't know if we've played in GR before ... We've played four games in Grand Rapids, all of them, oddly enough, in calendar year 1997. On March 22 and 23, we played in the NCAA West Regional. We beat Miami 4-2 in the regional semis (the first time we'd advanced a round in the NCAA's since 1972), but lost to North Dakota 6-2. On December 27 and 28 we played in something called the Pby ACM - Hockey

Re: QF2 Photos Are Up - 15 years ago
ursusminorLooking at the pictures in this and the other thread made me think that I read somewhere that Cornell, like RPI, was going to wear a patch this season honoring Ned Harkness. Either Cornell's is very inconspicuous or I am going blind or both. Is Cornell honoring Ned in that manner? Re: Cornell-RPI Postgame (Game 2) 3/14/09 - 15 years ago
From the NCAA Ice Hockey Statisticians' Manual: SECTION 4—SHOTS Article 1. A shot is an attempt that is taken with the intent of scoring and is directed toward the goal. Possible outcomes of a shot are that it is blocked by the defense, is not on target or is on target and qualifies as a shot on goal. Article 2. A shot on goal is a shot that is on target. Results of a shot on goal must be eiby ACM - Hockey
Re: Cornell-RPI Postgame (Game 2) 3/14/09 - 15 years ago
BeeeejTrotskyACMVery likely, this game tied the record for fewest shots allowed in a game. At least, that was the record in "The Cornell Hockey Record Book", and I can't recall a game in which the record was broken since that book was published. On 10/29/04, McKee and Davenport combined to stop 7 of 8 shots by Army. Interesting that College Hockey Stats has it as 9. The copy of thby ACM - Hockey
Re: Cornell-RPI Postgame (Game 2) 3/14/09 - 15 years ago
BeeeejKeithKAnyone know what Cornell's record is for most shots taken in a game? I'm sure it's something absurdly high from back in the 60's or 70's. Tonight's 56 has to be the most in a long while. Not to mentioning the 47 shot differential. I looked in this year's media guide, and no record is listed. I suspect someone keeps track of it somewhere, but given the wildly varying standards foby ACM - Hockey

Re: Cornell-Princeton Post-game - 15 years ago
dbilmeslynah80 I can't remember a previous Cornell game when two goals were scored in the last minute by an opponent. I do remember the same thing happening during a home game against Brown my freshman year, back in 1974. Only in that case, I believe that only enabled Brown to tie the game and we lost it in OT. Re: Important message to ice hockey ticket holders - 15 years ago
Beeeej Do you suppose Arthur would restart it if we promised to buy him a few drinks after the games? Not a chance. I don't take bribes. (Although I'm always open to anyone who wants to buy me a beer ...)
