A failed clear and turnovers lead to three Brown goals: 5-4 Brown mid-second.

Now 5-4 Brown. Cornell with 3 awful possessions in the 2nd quarter. Tambroni takes timeout after Brown's 5th goal. We're getting killed on face offs, and Brown's winning most of the ground balls.

Pannell ties it unassisted.

Cornell offsides gives Brown an EMO and they score. Dumb. 6-6

Brown's getting better shots, several coming after failed slides.

7-6 Brown at the half. We have to do better at FO, as we're getting killed on the possessions. As Tom LaFalce said, Brown really hasn't been able to stop us in the offensive end -- we just haven't had nearly the opportunities.

This game is reminding me more and more of the Dartmouth game. Deliberate play by Brown. Turnovers and minimal possession time for Cornell. Looking like a similar outcome, too, unfortunately.

10-6 Brown on the EMO. Fiore just not seeing the ball too well it seems.

Given the 11 days to prepare and that this is "Boiardi" weekend, this has been really disappointing. D looks awful, and O keeps giving it away on its few chances.

11-6 -- brutal play, and Brown is taking advantage to their credit. Not that it would matter, but might look for a goaltending change after the TO.

Seven goal run for Brown...seemingly effortlessly. Shots 25-16 Brown.

The lack of possessions has really caught up with us this quarter. It seems that on our few offensive possessions, we are rushing the action.

You know it's not your day when Pannell is stopped point blank.

Hopkins's NCAA streak is NOT over, Tom. If they beat Towson and Loyola they finish 7-7 and could still be selected, given their high RPI and SOS, whether that makes sense or not. Cornell was a #6-seed with a 6-5 record and finished second to Syracuse in 1988.

While a 5 goal deficit is not automatically insurmountable, hard to see a realistic chance since we've been so ineffective on face offs.

Harvard leading Princeton 10-6 with about 3:44 left in the 4th.

Not scoring on that EMO was a killer. Brown moves the ball much quicker on the EMO, which is why they are 45% or so.

Credit to Brown - they've gotten the bulk of the key ground balls. Also, we did not have enough movement on offense the last few minutes; it's almost as they've come to expect Pannell to do it by himself.

Really too bad to lose this one at home. Cornell will need a win next week at Princeton or in the first round of the Ivy tournament to have a shot at the NCAAs. After the great effort against Syracuse, I expected a more mature performance today.

13-10 final. We just didn't have it today. D was shaky, Fiore was ordinary, and Brown played an intelligent game.

Don't know what to expect next week, but Princeton is certainly beatable -- but not unless we play a lot better.

Usually lacrosse beats teams they should beat and loses to teams that are better, give or take Virginia last May. This is more hockey-teamish ... capable of beating or losing to anyone. We weren't expecting another run deep into the lax final four this year, were we? And yet, the Syracuse game gave hope we might do okay.
