I was just looking at University of Wisconsin's stats for this season. They only have two seniors on their roster (one being goaltender Brent Bruckler) and are competing for a #1 seed this season. They seem to be primed and the favorite for a national championship next year, especially if they snag Phil Kessel.

Even though they lose Bruckler, they have highly touted US Under 18 Gold Medalist Goalie Shane Connelly coming in from Chicago Steel (Topher Scott's team) of the USHL.

Why talk about next year when this year is getting good?
(I can't stand the idea of freakin' Bucky being a favorite in anything)

[q]Wisconsin is a cupcake.[/q]I posted a while back that I was skeptical of Wisconsin because of the schedule they've played. I still am though they get a little more credit having split with Minnesota last weekend. They play CC and Denver next. We'll have a good feel for how good they are by the time those games are over.

Wisconsin is lucky to play in the WCHA. They wouldn't even be good enough for home ice in the ECAC.

Haven't posted on or even read USCHO in over a year, but I know one thing:
Cupcakes give you a tummy ache.

If Cornell plays Wisconsin, the contingent wearing red that roars the loudest (and is likely more stoned because in Madison the '70s never ended, man) will not be from Ithaca. Phenomenal fans. Their fans all show up for consolation games. They think nothing of 12 hour charter bus rides.
And Wisconsin cost Cornell (probably) an NCAA championship in the early 1970s by refusing to wilt when Cornell was up 5-2 early in the third in the semis. Not that it would matter much in 2005 whether it's been 25 or ~23 years since Cornell's last crown.
