Ok, so a "nice" way to get my preseason thread back up top. After all, it's the preseason, not off season.
Anyway, Iles picked as goalie #3 in USCHO's list of 10 to watch.

We nearly won the Cleary, were within a gnat's whisker of the Frozen Four last year, didn't lose too much, and we get Ferlin back - I don't think it's unreasonable to at least *hope* that we are that good.ajh258

We did make a regional final last year without our star freshamn forward, or healthy contributions from Espo, and didn't really lose much. So I'd incline toward yes.ajh258

My concern is the weighting of post-season upsets. When you give both + and -, then a loss, like we had to Harvard, gets double value. In fact that one game, as important as it was, is the only reason they are 2 and we are 3. I know it's meaningless, but have you ever run a variety of weightings thru and seen how the actually compare to the end result?

Was Harvard the ECAC #2 to our #3 before or after the academic integrity flap hit? If they have to go to class and also study, that's going to cut into practice time. This is uncharted territory in Cambridge.

Quinnipiac has a transfer from Bowling Green, Jordan Samuels-Thomas, who led BG in scoring his first two seasons. He sat out last year after transferring and scored the GWG late in the third period against Maine last night. Apparently, both coaches had agreed to play 4-on-4 OT if it had come down to that! My guess is Schafer isn't going to want to play 4-on-4 in OT in non-league games when both coaches have to agree to do so.

Maybe before they build a new rink they should work on this one. According to Ken Schott:
Disappointing ceremony
If you were at Messa Rink for the unfurling of the four banners from the 2011-12 season, did you think it was exciting?
To me, it was disappointing. The two spotlights barely showed the unfurling of the ECACH tournament and NCAA tournament championship banners. And, at least from my vantage point from the press box across the rink, we never saw the ECACH Cleary Cup and NCAA Frozen Four banners come down.
Union has the same problem last year. Next time, I hope they keep the lights on so fans can see what’s going on.
Maybe they're not planning on a next time.

I guess my only problem with Union hoisting four banners is the redundancy of having separate "NCAA Regional Champion" and "Frozen Four" banners.
Edit: My mistake. It seems one lists the NCAA Tournament appearances, and the other is a Frozen Four banner. This is the only time I've ever seen the word "Whitelaw" on any banner in the league. I wonder now if the other says "Cleary Cup"

At this rate, maybe we should cancel all our scheduled games. If not losing (or playing) one game moves us up from #6 to #5, imagine where we'd be if we didn't play twenty or so games!

Did not realize they were "and ESPN Associate", whatever that means. Guess that wasn't enough to keep them going?

Very unfortunate. Most iconoclastic and insightful college hockey web site.

That "ESPN Associate" graphic has been there for a long time...within the first few years of INCH's existence. My guess is that it meant that ESPN could cherry-pick INCH articles for their website in exchange for "legitimacy" by displaying ESPN's logo. Around tournament time there were a good number of INCH pieces on ESPN.com's college hockey section. Maybe there was an amount of cash involved as well; I don't want to speculate either way.
