Bitz was called up by Vancouver today for their game against Colorado, and he's already had a first period fight with Cody Mcleod.

Just for anyone interested in seeing how Greening's stats currently compare to the NHL's other rooking scoring leaders:

Bitz is practicing on a line with Henrik Sedin and Mason Raymond per Greg Wyshynsky's column.

He's done it before, and he'd doing it again: Alain Vigneault has split the Sedins in practice, and potentially at the start of the Vancouver Canucks' next game. "Daniel Sedin was on Ryan Kesler's wing, along with Alex Burrows and Henrik Sedin was lined with Byron Bitz and Mason Raymond. The Sedins have been split up in consecutive games, but they started together in both tilts." [The Province]

And in a span of seconds, Byron Bitz picks up a goal assisted by Henrik Sedin and assists Daniel Sedin.

If he didn't have an injury history, he could drop the gloves to complete the Gordie Howe hat trick

I just tuned in for the 3rd period, and he's been playing right wing on a line with the two Sedins. Pretty good upgrade from where he was last week.

Didn't seem to stop him just 3 nights ago:

Though at this point he still has 13 minutes to pick up the Gordie Howe.

Maybe the Sedins were born triplets and Bitzy is their long lost brother. Bitz with another assist tonight. So Age, what do you think Bitz's +/_ will be if he stays paired with the Sedins? :-P

In addition to Bitz's previously mentioned assist last night, Matt Moulson scored a goal in the Islanders' 4-2 loss to Montreal.

In fairness, a point guard has a lot more visibility and attracts more attention than offensive linemen.

As solid a reserve as Boothe has been, Lin's impact on the team and fan base in 3 regular season games has far surpassed anything Boothe has done.

Scary headline, but the good phrase to read is "precautionary reasons," as spelled out in the article. Big hope it isn't anything to worry about.

I didn't realize this until seeing his name in the jersey auction thread, but David LeNeveu has been with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL this season and seems to be finding his game again after disappointing AHL seasons in 2008-09 and 2010-11 (sandwiched around a strong season with Red Bull Salzburg in 2009-10). He's currently second in the AHL in GAA and sixth in SV%, though as the short end of a 60/40 time share. (The other goalie? One Yann Danis. Danis, though, was called up to the Oilers yesterday, so Lenny may see more playing time at least for the moment.)

I refuse to recognize Yann Danis' accomplishments until his team creates a website describing them to me.

According to Gordon McIntyre of the Vancouver Province, the injury to Canucks forward Byron Bitz might affect the team's trade deadline strategy.

The big forward who has missed over a year due to four different surgeries has recently returned to the club, but after seven games, he needs time off. If he can't be in the lineup on a regular basis, the club might look to add some size on or before Monday.

"It's a complicated time of year, put it that way," head coach Alain Vigneault said. "But I don't want to over-react. This might be just a minor setback."

Anybody know what is up with Ryan O'Byrne? He played earlier this week and was a +3 Wednesday v. the Kings. He has been out of the line-up the past two games and scanning through the Avalanche website yielded no results.

Also, Douglas Murray has yet to return to the line-up for the Sharks, that adam's apple thing is very serious bugeye.

Bitz was sent down to the Chicago Wolves yesterday. Bummer

I will be interested to see if he's back with Vancouver this season or if they see Kassian as his permanent replacement. I think the Canucks need a lot of grit so I'm hoping he'll be back.

At least Vancouver gave him more of a shot than they did with Dan Ratushny, I'm just saying.....

Danis was reassigned to the Barons today; he played in one game with the Oilers, relieving Devan Dubnyk for the second half of last night's loss to the Blues and stopping 10 of the 12 shots he faced. LeNeveu started all thee Barons games in his absence. Last Wednesday, he allowed just one goal on 32 shots in the Barons' 5-1 win over the Texas Stars. Friday, he was pulled after allowing 4 goals on 18 shots over the first 31 minutes in an eventual 6-2 loss to the Charlotte Checkers. However, he was back in goal again on Saturday night and had a much better game, stopping 36 of 38 shots through regulation and overtime and then 6 of 7 in the shootout to earn the win.
