One thing everyone can agree upon: the War Memorial at OnCenter in Syracuse is by far the worst arena ever.

I do like the use of "tyme". I don't really see how "even the $31.95 total that I paid was worth every penny in my opinion, as a game at Lynah is a must-see for all avid hockey fans" translates to a value rating of 6/10.

Reading his mention of the fans waving newspapers during the introductions reminds me that the current issue of Sports Illustrated has a feature story on the Northern Iowa men's basketball team, and in one photo, the Northern Iowa fans are standing and holding newspapers in front of their faces. They're not shaking them, though.

"Seating 2/10"

I don't know what he is talking about here. The seats are perfectly adequate for taking a break during intermissions. :-)

Seriously, I much prefer the intimate atmosphere and ability to crowd more people in with the bleacher seating. I would hate to see this changed.

If you could somehow warp space to fit the same number of people in the existing space, but providing a human-sized allocation for each seat, I'd be happier with that.

Lynah Seats are fine if you are 5' 8" or shorter and weigh 150 lb. or less.

Do you have any idea what it is like to be 6' 3" and slightly overweight and try to cram into into your space on the bleacher when the people infront and behind you are the same size.

Picture trying to pour 10 gallons of cow manure into a 5 gallon pale...

I'll agree to the 150 or less part, since I have been at Lynah both over and under that weight. I would disagree with the 5'8" part. I'm 5'6" and when I sit down, I'm still kicking someone in the back.

Maybe this is Cornell's way of encouraging fans to keep to their diets so as not to overspill their numbered area on the benches.

When watching BU vs. BC at Fenway I thought the fans were way too far from the action - so much that it seemed like the worst ever though only an ad hoc location. So how will Ford Field fare for Frozen Four?

Since the seating at Ford Field will only be in one end zone, it shouldn't be as bad as Fenway was (I was there along the 3rd base line). Ford Field also won't have the beams and the odd shape to contend with for rink placement.

Well, considering I stole the idea from a basketball team (The U of Scranton), that seems somewhat fitting.

Stanford students for 30 years have gone into high tech - it's no more a commute than if we went to work at a Finger Lakes winery - and so many got filthy rich off IPOs and gave some back to Stanford that before the 2008 swoon, Stanford's endowment was $2 million per student, most in the world, followed by Princeton at $1.6 million per student. They've gone everywhere, not just HP or Apple, and also to Microsoft. The Stanford class of 1980 or 1982 had a dozen people who wound up VPs at MS with immense stock options.

(Drift: I believe Cornell is about #30 on this list, least of the Ivies, just behind Penn. The top ten is Stanford, Princeton, Yale, Harvard, Grinnell, Pomona, Swarthmore, Rice, Amherst, Williams. The top 4 had > $1M per student, the top 10 or 12 had > $500K per student. If you have $500K and it throws off 5%, that's $25K a year to help out each student. YMMV: The list I saw appears to be compiled before the crash and critics say there are multiple ways to compute the endowment. FWIW, see this chart: [www.data360.org] )

I'mma jump in here for this one as I still call it "The Facebook." When the fbook first came 'round, it actually was "The Facebook." In fact, you can still access it via its original URL- thefacebook.com. This is much more legit than "The Google" or "The Lynah."
