So much for my recent raves about Army ... I see that they lost 4-2 to an under .500 Mercyhurst in the Atlantic Hockey semifinals.

Which means under .500 Mercyhurst is a win from an autobid.

Which means they could suddenly become a TUC, right?
IIRC, no. You can't be a TUC if your RPI is under .500 even if you are in the tourney. I think.

Teams don't automatically become TUCs anymore for the purposes of calculating the Pairwise

Union just picked up a penalty to negate their PP. 4-4 hockey for a bit.

You don't become a TUC even if your RPI is ABOVE .500 and you win a tournament. Not automatically. So if your RPI is .5008 and you win a conference tournament, you still don't automatically become one. It's just the Top 25 of RPI.

I am emailing to demand a refund for the Cornell-Union mens ECAC hockey playoff game of 3/15/08. The webcast audio and video have repeatedly failed throughout this webcast, as they have through other B2 webcasts throughout this and other years.

This quality of service plagued Cornell viewers all last year prior to the Cornell AD dropping B2 at our request. Many of us are now petitioning the ECAC and NCAA to remove B2 from the list of providers for any future league products.

B2’s products, customer support, and pricing model are seriously inferior when compared with even the barely tolerable of web-based products. We look forward to the day your management either elects to provide quality service or files for bankruptcy.

Trotsky,

While I agree with you about B2's terrible performance during the playoffs, wasn't the provider we hated so much over the last couple years CSTV? I don't think B2 had anything to do with it.

Yup, it was CSTV's AllAccess, no connection to B2 - although I believe B2 has carried the Everblades tourney before.

Yes, for the last two years, Cornell used CSTV which is a separate entity from B2.

Clarkson and St. Lawrence are using B2 as their internet service provider this year and I watched both North Country games without any issues.

As we all know, issues at the rink (i.e. people stepping on the cords) etc. do affect whether we get video feed or not.

This is the first year that the ECAC has gone to a single service provider for the opening and QF rounds. It might be worth writing a letter detailing your frustrations with B2 to the ECAC. I wrote one explaining my disappointment with plan and how much it was going to cost etc. If more people shared their experiences in a constructive manner, then perhaps next year they might come up with a better plan.

who do we want to win these games?

colg wins and we play harv if seed holds?

we could actually be the top seed if things fall right..

It's kind of a technicality, but Union and Cornell were tied in the league with 25 points each. Union won the head-to-head tiebreaker, thus securing the first round bye.

It's kind of a technicality, but Union and Cornell were tied in the league with 25 points each. Union won the head-to-head tiebreaker, thus securing the first round bye.

True we 'tied', but since they beat us twice, its hard to argue they weren't one of the teams above us - and, based on the results this season 'better than us'.

Anyway, technicalities or not, its nice to see us able to get 2 wins on a road against a bye-team that we couldn't be in the regular season.

At the risk of raining on our own parade, I'll quip that we still haven't beaten anybody better than us in the ECAC.

We just did... twice in a row. Ok, I know its 'just Union', but they were one of the 4 we couldn't beat.

Which means that Delta was right when he said that we couldn't beat them. If we had beaten them, we would have the tiebreaker.

No doubt about it, the difference this year over last has been the improved special teams. If we keep that going next week, we have a shot (that, plus no one in the league is especially overwhelming).

Agreed. And I suspect that the experience of having to deal with a first-round series, combined with wins on the road in the quarterfinals, should bring a lot of character to this young team in future years.

And this year. When Cornell takes the ice Friday, it will be their 6th ECAC playoff game of the season -- their team record (which they will immediately break Saturday). The long post-season is a 25% bonus in games played over the RS.

And that's without having to go the distance in the Union series **]

And depending on what happens tomorrow, we may not have to see any of the other three until next year. popcorn

That's only happening if O. Henry is writing this year's ECAC script. looking

Fantastic win tonight. Glad we made the trip, and of course we'll be heading back here (well, near here) next weekend.

I was just reading this game thread, and I wanted to comment for those of you planning on doing credit card chargebacks because of the poor B2 product and lack of customer service. While you will get your money back, it almost certainly will not come from B2. Most credit card companies will not bother to start the dispute process for an amount under $10. (For some credit card companies this amount may be even higher--possibly $15 or $20) Instead they will just give it to you, from their own pocket, so to speak. So while you will get the money back, B2 will also get to keep it. So the full affect you are looking for...B2 feeling the loss...won't be achieved.

chargeback obviously isnt the #1 option. #1 option is for b2 to refund the money, otherwise i will issue a chargeback. Fact of the matter is that I got to watch about half of the 1st and 2nd period, and none of the 3rd (I got an error message saying I had reconnected too many times, and to contact customer service, which I did and they never responded). In the end, I want the money to be refunded by $8, but I'll take Citibank giving me the $8 back, as a write-off or not.

I was actually responding more to Trotsky's post, in which he said something like, "If everyone did this, maybe B2 would get the message." I was pointing out that while you guys would (and should) get the money back, B2 would probably never know.

And Trotsky, to file a chargeback you just call your credit card company to start the process. But as I wrote earlier, in this case when you call to start the chargeback they will just give you your money back, instead of starting the chargeback procedure.

For a more significant amount of money, they would take your info, and then, depending on the credit card company, possibly ask you to write up your side of the story. Generally they will credit you the amount while the chargeback is pending. Then, when it is resolved, you keep the credit if it is resolved in your favor. If you lose the chargeback, they just reinstate the initial charge.

i love how away play-by-play announcers are so anticlimactic when we score~ "kennedy in the slot puckloosendhescores . . . "

This is one of the many reasons why I liked Grady Whittenberg. He made an exciting play sound exciting...no matter which team it benefited.
