And count one semi-ENG to his name. When all the crap was going down at the end of the game Danis skated out of his net and Dave shot the puck from his crease, and scored...well kind of. It was really funny. Danis didn't leave his net after that. Also Brown did not shake hands at the end of the game. I kind of felt bad for him.

not shaking hands at the end of the game was definitely better for both sides. the last thing we need going into next weekends B.U. series are some stupid fighting majors. . .and there would have been a fight, that's a certainty!

The end was very ugly 3 pairs of misconducts in last 5 minutes plus other minors; started with a large brown player on a nasty high stick to Matt M. and Matt went after him after the whistle big time.... 2 min minor for roughing to matt and a misconduct and a 5 min major and a misconduct to Brown player both to the locker room... this set up a 3 on 3 since it was already 4 v 4 and then Cornell man up for last 2 min 50 secs or so.... I felt we were lucky the Ref didn't throw game misconducts in there! things were close to out of control.

Then after the last whistle a Brown player instigated a fracas w ?? and 2 players were roughing it up well after the final whistle - they only got 2 min minors according to the announcer -- I thought that kind of thing was an automatic Game DQ ??? anyhow it then looked like the Ref directed Brown to leave the ice - - Brown captain seemed to be arguing with him but he lost (not sure my interpretation is correct just how it looked....)

Anyhow great effort by the Big Red -- bring on BU!!!

Esdale's cross-check at 60:00 was later changed to a major. No DQ though.

Also, collegehockeystats.com lists the first goal as Vesce's, which is consistent with what Bâby said in the postgame interview.

Charlie Cook was watching the game in civies using a pair of crutches - - from nasty hit in third period against Harvard.

Bell was not dressed and I heard he has a strained abominal muscle.... hopefully back in a week or so...

Two comments. First, nothing I saw I thought should've been an automatic game DQ. There were some punches, but nothing the refs didn't break up quickly. It was all very close to a fighting major/game DQ, but nothing that *clearly* crossed the line. I was just standing there saying "come on, guys, dont get suspended for BU."

Second, did anyone else leave the game with the impression that the ref knew what our next game was, and that it's important to the conference, and tried to give the fairest penalties he could short of DQ's. Maye he got a whisper from the conference or just knew himself. I obviously have no way of knowing if that's true, but it's just the feeling I got. Because despite the fact that some of that stuff could go either way, usually I think people would have gotten the boot.

Only if our refs were as conscious as CCHA refs.

One reason I don't think so (although I was only listening to the game) is: if the refs were operating with any sort of cognizance about "what's good for the conference," they would have called the whole third period so close to the shirt they would have been inside the players' pads. From the 10 minute mark onwards in a 4 goal game anything borderline of the rough/spear/board variety would have been up on the board.

It seemed as though he knew he had "lost" the game but by the time he actually realized this it was not coming back under control. I agree with Fred in regards to him knowing that next weekend is a HUGE weekend for the ECAC. . .throwing out players for borderline fighting calls would not be beneficial to the league. Support for this can be seen by the fact that he instructed the Brown team to leave the ice after the game, not allowing them to shake hands (the Brown captain was NOT happy with that decision).

Bâby was in constant contact with the ref throughout the 3rd period. I'm sure he let the ref know not to let the game get out of control for a number of reasons.

I almost forgot to mention this. . .did anyone else see that nice older fella catch the puck that flew into section C on Saturday night??? Oh wait, that was Beeeej. . .

Dude, it is so much easier to just ask the players for a brand new game puck. At least that is the approach I took for my Cornell game puck. Much simpler than the UNH puck I have. Caught that one between my nose and teeth and some little punk tried to run off with it.....

Had I not ducked and covered like a little girl, I would currently be in possession of a puck from the February 2000 Harvard at Cornell game.

I got hit by an SLU game puck the last time the band traveled there. I think they said it was hit out by one of the McCrae's.. I just remember looking down for a piece of music, then my head was ringing -- and bleeding.. no stitches luckily .

then my buddy who went to the women's game also got "hit" by a puck that sort of rolled up against his leg.

When I was involved in Swiss baseball, it was a standard observation that you could tell the Americans from the Europeans by whether, when a foul ball was hit out of play, they tried to catch it or take cover.

I also have a Harvard game puck, but that was through a much more bizarre incident. I was at the rink getting a jersey autographed by the whole team when Pelletier came over and tossed me a puck, a Harvard game puck. I'm assuming he just wanted it off the ice...

Dude, the point is not to own a game puck. I could have done that anytime. The point is to own a game puck that I caught on the fly, hit from the ice during live play in a game.
