Having finally gotten myself an iPod, I'm totally into the Podcast thing.  Who is going to start the Cornell hockey one?  Voice your opinions?  Could be fun!  :)

Hmm. Interesting idea... With a good panel it could work.

There already is an ECAC Hockey Podcast.  Seems okay.  Checking out as we speak...

Okay, ECAC podcast is nothing but a scores recap thus far....  BORING!

What is this "podcast" you speak of?

I toyed with the idea a few months ago, but ultimately decided I couldn't do it alone.  Someone suggested I should do the podcast with someone else.  Age's idea of a panel would probably work even better.
Is next year here yet?

Who is brave enough to volunteer?  I would love to but I unfortunately can't tell you the last time I was at Lynah (I think it was J.R.'s last college game EVER!).

That's a great question..  I presented that same question to the All-Access people.    I explained to them that I would subscribe to their service if they began to offer hockey as podcasts.  I got the usual "I'll pass along your thoughts."

Well, we could start with ELynah articles on podcast. We just have to find someone to read them in. Just think, I could be running along listening to last weekends rehash.B-]

INCH has a podcast...on their latest edition they talk about the MSU postgame "festivities" and suggest that Coach Schafer should get some sort of reprimand for his actions(pushing a player)::rolleyes::

Acording to those guys MSU was nothing but an innocent victim. ::rolleyes::

It's pretty clear that all of them where working off of hear say and didn't have any idea what really happened.  They seemed to be under the impression that the entire cornell crowd was throwing things on the ice.  Nor did they mention the bottle that was fired back into the crowd.

exactly...I think I will properly inform them with an email, as objectively as I can.

A podcast is a tape recording (so to speak) you download to your iPod or other music player.

With a radio, you listen to stuff in real time. If you're not listening when the announcer is speaking, you missed it.

With a podcast, you listen to stuff when you want to, not when it's broadcast. It's news, commentary. Some of it is repurposed, meaning it's a recording of a broadcast. In some cases it's created only as a podcast.

Sort of like an MP3 but it's not music. Or like a talking book.

One example would be podcasts of Ari's weekly eLynah columns. Rather than read him online, you'd listen to him.

Another would be a downloadable recording of the game broadcast. Something the powers that be will probably think about for a year or two to make sure this podcast thing has legs.

One reason for podcasts is convenience for users. Another is that you can for very low cost get the information in the hands of more people and maybe stick a commercial at the beginning and end as well.

I think Liz was being ironically sarcastic, Bill.

Edit: but then again, maybe there are people reading this thread who don't know what a podcast is, so nevermind me.

I actually had never heard of a podcast.  ::blush::  Thanks, Bill, for the description...it's a lot what I thought it might be (especially as the conversation continued), but I did want confirmation.
