Since BU has been accused of the same style, this caught my eye when reading some old Stanley Cup material at cnnsi.com. Sounds like Schafer's Boys to me:

"the Toronto wins [in the '67 Cup finals against Montreal] were typical masterpieces of rugged checking, defense and superb goaltending ... Cynics around the NHL have often said that this cautious philosophy produces boring hockey. [Toronto coach] Punch Imlach, who is never boring himself, laughed when the objection came up. Resting an elbow on the large Stanley Cup, he wondered, "Were the Toronto fans bored with us this spring?"

Perhaps Mike can pull that quote out of mothballs after the Big Red win NCAA title number 3 next season in Buffalo, with a 3-2 win over the Terriers in double OT. ::uhoh::

I couldn't pick a more appropriate opponent.;-)

Both teams should be contenders again next year.  What's the outlook for BU in goal?

I'd like the sound of that, except that it would set up the preconditions for my keeling over with a heart attack about 21 years ahead of schedule. ::help::

John,

Maybe so...but what a way to go, eh?  Just make sure your premiums are paid!  I hear that one all the time here...:-D

John:

I don't want to kill you off decades before the grim reaper is scheduled to pay you a visit, so maybe I'll have BU win the game and you'll just be sent to the hospital with a case of exhaustion? ;-)

Al:

Sean Fields will be the primary BU goalie next year. He's usually pretty solid, and has two years of playing under his belt, so I expect he'll have a good junior season. Generating some more offense will be a necessity for BU next season, and, I suppose, for the Big Red as well?

What about the Round Mound of Rebound, aka Ten goal Tapp?

(For the record, no cornell fan would ever call a cornell player such a thing no matter how bad they were.) ;-)

Work is no longer an excuse to live near an ECACHL team... :(

Al DeFlorio

Yikes!  I didn't realize Fields was just a sophomore this year.  BU should be solid in net next year.  Did you lose any of the touted freshman class?

Are you willing to go deaf taking a bell-ringing shift if Clarkson ever wins a national championship? ;-)

John,

I'm sure you know the answer to that question....:-D

In fact, the line to carry out that task would be loooooooooong indeed!

actually if the grim reaper is scheduling visits then you would not be causing an early visit b/c your intervention would be scheduled too :-)
but we get your point!
the frozen four in buffalo + cornell being there will be sweet  -- especially if i am on a rotation that does not include being on call at night/weekends!
