A 6:50pm flight out of Ithaca after a 3pm game at Lynah shouldn't be difficult at all, especially on a Sunday.  It's not like being there an hour before departure time serves any purpose at ITH other than to make you wait while the octogenarian security officer wakes up and raises the gate.

Glad to hear about Umile.  I wrote to Schafer during the season asking about the Cornell - UNH series, and perhaps the recent Tourney game will be add'l impetus to set up an annual series.

Have the dates for the Florida tournament been set?

Grady Whittenburg

Just a "guess"-timate that the dates will either be 27-28 (Fri/Sat) or 28-29 (Sat/Sun).  In talking with Craig Brush (Everblades CEO) on the air last year at the tournament, I believe he mentioned he preferred Sat-Sun to stimulate attendance for the first early game instead of having that at 4pm on a Friday afternoon.

He also wanted to see a better draw of fans overall and felt that with Everblades having games sandwiched around the college tourney was not good.  With 4 consecutive days of hockey, naturally the college ones would be lowest on the locals' priority list.  He was going to work with their member league (ECHL) and the scheduling to ensure that the college tournament could be showcased and place their pro team on the road during that time.

Don't know if that helps your travel plans, but that's all I know.

Since someone asked...

Here's what I've been able to assemble from other teams' schedules; travel partner games can also be inferred.  (Union is supposed to have a schedule on line at http://www.union.edu/News/Sports/Athletics/Winter/MensHockey/Scores.html but their server is timing out.)

Updates as of May 15 in bold.  Interesting that we seem to open and close the ECAC schedule with Yale.  (Here's hoping the Nov 1 weekend is something worth flying back for, since I get off for All Saint's Day.)

I've updated the previous message.

redraider13

I got an early rough copy of Colgates schedule.  Some of our dates are tentative, but I'd imagine the ECAC part is right.  So here is what your ECAC schedule would look like according to what I saw.

Nov 8th- Princeton
       9th- Yale
       15th- @Dartmouth
       16th- @UVM
       22nd- Brown
       23rd- Harvard
Jan 4th- @Clarkson
      5th- @SLU
      17th- @RPI
      18th- @Union
      24th- Clarkson
      25th- SLU
      31st- @Colgate
Feb 1st- Colgate
      7th- Dartmouth
      8th- UVM
     14th- @ Brown
     15th- @Harvard
     21st- RPI
     22nd- Union
    28th- @ Princeton
Mar 1st- @Yale

It looks like the bumped the home and home with you guys till later in the season.  In the past, it's always been right at the end of break, and has hampered student attendance a little.  This should make it more interesting.   I also have news that the SIT has been put on a one year hiatus, the promoters have one year to get sponsors that would actually give them money to promote the tournament.  Otherwise, it goes bye bye for good.

Is Findley finally out of their "quasi-D1" state?

Al DeFlorio

Does it matter?

Playing Findlay defines the term "everything to lose, nothing to gain."

Al DeFlorio '65

jtwcornell91

Actually, that's why it matters.  Playing Findlay last year was a "nothing to lose, nothing to gain" game, since it didn't count.  Playing them at the beginning of the season probably doesn't matter too much, although they're not likely to be as good as their winning percentage will imply, so they could provide a team with a relatively easy way to pad their winning percentage and boost their RPI.  They won't count towards the last 16 and probably not vs TUC either.  The impact on common opponents will likely depend on whether they play certain other teams twice.

No word on whether those games are in Ithaca or Ohio?

DeltaOne81

I don't think the question as explicitly answered: yes, Findlay is out of their quasi-DI status - it's two year probation, which they've completed. According to a friend of mine at UConn, the NCAAs have now upped it from 2 years to something like 5 (I'll check on this when he wakes up tomorrow :-) ), so next time we have a club/D-II/D-III transfer, it'll be a sucky situation like that for even longer.

So does this mean no Western Michigan?
