The Score is now reporting a deal in principle has been reached.

WHEW!

I don't know what I would have done if we went a full day without a post on the NHL labor situation ;-)

When I saw this topic, I could not figure out which college hockey team's season could be saved.  I suppose anyone (except Hockey East #9) could run the table win their league title and then have a 4 game win streak....

Oh boy, the NHL season may have been saved.  And this changes my life how?

WFAN in New York indicated that the cap would be $45 million, with a 100% luxury tax for team salaries above $42.5 million.

Various other sources, including one from the NHL and PA confirming an agreement on a 45M CAP.  Now this doesnt mean a deal is done, just that the most difficult part of it is.  Rumors circulating that former PA President Mike Gartner has replaced Bob Goodenow as the defacto Chairman.

Interesting... I just heard someone on ESPN Radio denying these rumors.

I hope the season can still be saved...

Well for what it's worth E.J. Hradek, the head hockey guy at ESPN, has confirmed them.

Well I take little into the players answer to the question.
For goodness sakes, it took some of them over a week to realize that the players union agreed to the salary cap.  I think the only ppl that know for sure are the ppl in NY.
Hopefully this is true, because even a short season is better than cancelling the season as a whole.
