Anybody else having problems connecting to the feed?
Tom Campbell '99

Rosey

At least some of us are having buffering problems, where we get good feed for a period, followed by some period of no feed, back and forth.  It's really annoying, especially considering I'm paying for this.

No problem connecting, but the webcast comes through in fits and starts.

Almost makes you forget the "clunk-clunk" sound every ten or so seconds.

Interestingly, the women's basketball game against Drexel on Saturday is being webcast at no charge. ::screwy::

You'd think if they're going to charge us for this, they'd have adequate bandwidth.   This is unwatchable.

Tom14850

very frustrating. Mike hedrik - were you in a fraternity?

Agreed, Mike.  Pretty pathetic.

As a slight aside, college students are conditioned to take what they can get even if they are anally raped for it.  Those of us in the real world recognize value and refuse to be taken without some reasonable expectation of improvement.  If Cornell wants to nickel-and-dime its alumni to death and give us lousy service, then they can continue to look forward to zero in the form of contributions from this alumnus.  A little good will goes a long way... and vice versa.

No, but there was another Mike Hedrick a year ahead of me.  Perhaps he was.

Tom14850

forgive my ignorance, but is this XMI service provided by Cornell, or is it a private effort?
Tom Campbell '99

jkahn

I've been rebuffering every 10 seconds.  Very frustrating.

How dare you.  You are not entitled to anything from Cornell, but they are entitled to your annual donations no matter what. ::rolleyes::

billhoward

Frustrating. Unless students are doing a massive MP3 download before heading home on break, there's no excuse. Wait, that couldn't be it. Cornell licensed an internal Napster server. To paraphrase the cheer - there is no gravity. It just sucks.

I'm also getting a really poor feed.  I emailed the vendor to ask if anything could be done.  Here's his reply FWIW:

We're on the phone with our bandwidth provider trying to figure out what the
problem is, and how to fix it.
