I'll Be At The Stanley Cup

Going to Calgary on Saturday.  I'll be in the second row for games 3, 4, and 6.  Pretty happy with a split going home for two games even though the Flames have struggled a bit on home ice in the playoffs.  Look for me there as I will be in the second row.  Will be meeting up with Shane Hynes, Mike Iggulden (who is staying with Shane Hynes for a bit), and Kevin McLeod while I'm up there.

... and you'll be wearing a Cornell jersey in row 2 just in case the cameras pan the crowd, yes? That will give the announcers a chance to recall Ken Dryden's heroics in the Stanley Cups of the 1970s, this on the heels of his leading Cornell to an undefeated season in 1970.

 I knew Mark McCutcheon from middleschool.  I had my freshman writing seminar with seniors Vesce and Wallace.  Friends with Kelly Hughes's sister.  My girl friend plays for the women's team and her cousins are the Abbots.  I talked to Hynes and McLeod a lot about the Flames as I knew he was from Calgary.  Just started talking to O'Byrne, McKee, Bitz, Glover, Stachurski (when he was on the team) early in the school year I guess.

Mayhem here in Calgary.  One win away from the Stanley Cup.  I'll be there tomorrow night when the Flames can really make history.  Without question in my mind, this is the most improbable run in sports history.  A sixth seeded team missing two of their top four forwards and two of their top five defensemen for the entire playoffs beats three division winners (four if they can beat Tampa), both conference champions (if they can beat Tampa), all four of which were 100+ teams.

well, CalgARI...I hope you get a chance to talk with Conroy and Clark  IF they win tomorrow night.  I can't think of a Techer more deserving of the Cup than Craiger...well, maybe Dave Taylor.

If it's mayhem now, what will tom'w be like if they win???  :-D

Somehow one suspects Lord Stanley's Cup means more to residents of Calgary than Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay playoff fans call and ask if there's a game discount if you're seated before 5:30.

It's good to see a sport have unlikely winners interspersed among the dynasties.

Sure they'll believe that in Tampa Bay, water is wet, because they ain't never seen the bay freeze.  Though I've never been there, I figure Lake Placid is a cool town, Lake Placid hosted the Olympics, Calagry hosted the Olympics and therefore, Calgary must be a cool town.

Lake Placid is a cool town when it's not a mud or insect month. Also, because the Adirondack Park area allows for limited development, and because there's only a handful of mountains, it's not as lively as Vermont or Colorado. That's great if you want solitude, not so great if you want to party or earn a living there.
