There is much "do not ask for whom the bell tolls, Mr. Donato..." grumbling coming out of Alston.
Let's get it right...it's Allston.  I mean...this is Hahvahd, after all.;-)

So he gets a A instead of an A+.  Big deal.

Harvard sucks so much they even spread it to TV:

QuoteToo small to pursue his fantasy of playing football for the Miami Dolphins, Zucker took to writing local sports stories for The Miami Herald. He continued his writing career as an undergraduate at Harvard University, where he covered sports for The Harvard Crimson. He later became president of the publication. It was at Harvard that Zucker first met Conan O'Brien, now an NBC late-night host, who worked for humor magazine the Harvard Lampoon. As a prank, O'Brien's staff stole all the Crimson issues one day before they could be delivered. Zucker called the cops. "My first meeting with Jeff Zucker was in handcuffs, with a Cambridge police officer reading me my rights," says O'Brien.

For all their suckiness, guess who holds the mythical championship belt right now?  Yep...SUCKS

Here's the trail, as I followed it:

BU starts, having won the chamiponship last season.
10/16 BU loses to UMass 3-2
10/31 UMass loses to Providence 2-1
11/8 Providence loses to Vermont 3-0
11/14 Vermont loses to BC 7-1
11/15 BC loses right back to Vermont 3-2
11/24 Vermont loses to UMass 6-2
11/28 UMass loses to Quinnipiac 5-4
12/4 Quinnipiac loses to Yale 7-4
1/12 Yale loses to Harvard 3-2, and Harvard holds it against Dartmouth on 1/18 by a score of 4-1

I didn't check everyone's upcoming schedule for non-conference play, but assuming Harvard gives it up to Union, RPI, or Princeton before their annual Beanpot debacle, FWIW the ECAC could hold it into this year's playoffs.

And yes, I do have too much time on my hands.  Gotta find a job one of these days.

Unfortunately already reported on Other Scores, Jan 8-10, 2010 thread. But it was nice to see the trail. And yes, find a job.Not that it stops posting.:-}

Mea culpa.  Serves me right for getting a new computer and clearing too many of the unreads, without paying enough attention to content.

Why are you assuming Harvard is going to lose in the Beanpot?

::laugh::

Yeah, I couldn't say that with a straight face.  It's because they suck and they always tank in the Beanpot.  Carry on.

RIP.

But Harvard still sucks.

FWIW, The Belt is currently disputed. Wisconsin beat Yale in a shootout on January 3 and also claimed The Belt. That Belt is currently held by Colorado College. The official rules, however, state that The Belt does not transfer by shootouts.

So what's with the ECAC website having links to 3 articles on Harvard. Now I know that Harvard generally plays better in the second half, but 3 articles? One from that well known Patriot Ledger. Basically they all say the same thing. Harvard is up and down, they are doing better, and this is a down year for Beanpot teams. Maybe they can do it this year?

Multi-sport sucking is even sweeter. At least Harvard hoops is not currently suffering from the peculiar-to-Harvard self-esteem issue, as described in Doonesbury.

This is probably buried somewhere in TBRW or similar stats (gad, is there nothing we do not collect and parse?). When did Cornell most dominate Harvard? It could be a single season, it could be the three- or four-year of one class, there could be extra credit for wins in sports Cornell cares about. I would say it would need to include a sweep in hockey or at least a wondrous comeback in the playoffs, plus lacrosse, plus football (uh-oh), probably soccer since Harvard takes that seriously.

Harvard doesn't care about lacrosse, though.  It ought to be in sports both teams value (maximize their suffering).

They do now, since they hired Cornell Alum John Tillman, '91.  He's been pulling in Blue Chip recruits and will make some noise this year.  I think they're preseason ranked No. 11 and third in the Ivies.

The Cantabs could be getting better and Harvard still might not care. It would be nice for Harvard to hover near the top ten and be a close game each year in their loss to us.
