A sieve is a sieve regardless

It wouldn't be 4pm on the second Monday in February if Harvard wasn't playing hockey.
Too bad there's no rep.

Going by the box score and the Harvard thread in USCHO, in the 40 minutes from the 2:00 mark of the third period to the end of the game, Harvard was outshot 40-6.  Michalek saved the first 39.

That is a tough loss.

Anyone find it odd that the beanpot goes into unlimited overtime, rather than 5 mins and a tie with a shootout to determine who goes forward like in Estero?

Tournaments can make their own rules, especially self-important ones like the Beanpot.

My question: Does the NCAA consider that a tie in PWR considerations after 5 minutes of OT?

They certainly have not in the past.  Games decided in overtime have been considered wins and losses.

It makes sense for the Beanpot, because there's a week between games.  I'm all for some preservation of actual hockey rather than the dreaded That Which Will Not Be Named.

Agreed. It almost makes sense to have a shootout on day one of a back to back tournament like Estero (it doesn't but I can see the argument).  t makes no sense to do so when teams have three days to recover before their next game.

There must be a rip in the time-space continuum: it's the second Monday in February and Harvard will not be playing hockey at 4:00 PM.

Except that based on his signature he "ignores" this thread.
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

Trivia contest on the Harvard hockey site.

In other news, there's a Harvard hockey site.
