New season, new recruit thread.

Here are our recruits in order of commitment date. Bold indicates good chance they matriculate in 2027-28.
  • Michael Dec--small forward putting up big numbers in the OHL. Should be one of the better offensive forwards in next year's class.
  • Henry Major--small forward who hasn't been able to score in the USHL at anywhere close to the same clip as brother Charlie. I was bullish upon his commitment but it hasn't been panning out.
  • Maddex Marmulak--forward who seems to have plateued in the QMJHL the past few years. Looking for him to start producing at a much higher rate.
  • Jack Broderick--forward who was one of the top NE prep school players last season, but that doesn't mean much since these days most of the best US prep players go to juniors, whereas Broderick stayed in prep through graduation. Now in the QMJHL, it will be interesting to see how his game translates. He is older (turning 19 soon) so you'd look for him to produce significantly this season.
  • Luca Diplacido--defenseman who was at St. Andrews last year and is now in the OHL. Not enough data yet. Has only played 1 game so far for Oshawa; not sure if due to injury or healthy scratch.
  • Sam Peckham--defenseman who played four years of high school hockey in Minnesota, now in the USHL. Didn't produce in high school so that doesn't bode well.
  • Henri Ament--older forward (turning 20 in January) now in his second year of the WHL. Didn't produce last year; not sure what the vision is here, might be a defensive forward.
  • Cole Emerton--looks like a small but skilled offensive defenseman. Had a good rookie year in the OHL and is off to another good start (stats-wise) this season.
  • Aiden Kirkwood--smaller forward who didn't produce much last year in the QMJHL, but was only 17 for most of the season. Hopefully he can break out in his second full QMJHL season.
  • Anthony Dontigny--forward who hasn't panned out; currently playing in one of the lesser Canadian junior leagues after bouncing around last season.
  • Charlie Puglisi--smaller forward who is a Nashville 7th round draft pick currently in his first junior season, in the QMJHL. Should be good offensively.
  • Nolan Long--forward who is another St. Andrews graduate now in his first season in the OHL. Had good but not outrageous numbers in prep; need more data.
  • Charlie Sullivan--defenseman who is yet another St. Andrews recruit, now in his senior year as captain. Need more data.
  • Nick Cirka--6'3 goalie who was on the Central Scouting rankings at one point, but struggled last season and early this season.
  • Hagan Bach--another big (6'4) goalie who is only 17 but is off to a good start in the OHL with .917 sv% in 4 games (tiny sample).
  • Daniel Walters--forward who was on the Central Scouting rankings with a solid chance of being drafted last season, but was passed over and is now off to a slow start this season.
  • Peyton and Ben Collins--twins who are forwards on the same OHL team. Only 17, but haven't played yet (presumably healthy scratches).
  • Cameron Allard--6'3 defenseman in the WHL who was on the Central Scouting rankings last year but wasn't drafted. Had okay numbers last season, though I don't have a sense for whether he's offensively gifted or getting PP time.

Notable: lots of small forwards; and almost everyone is playing in the CHL.

Not much to write home about for our recruits so far in this junior hockey season...the standouts are Dec, Emerton, and Bach, but nobody else is jumping off the page.

New commit - Max Aronson. '08.

Seems to be doing pretty well in high school hockey, having a cup of tea with the NTDP right now too. Probably a few years out though. USHL rights held by Lincoln.

11-15-26 pts in 18 games at UMHSEHL level (high school league with Shattuck St Mary's, for reference). 55 PIMs... Scoring good for 3rd in the league. Minnesota boy. As per the first sentence of a scouting report I'm not paying for, seems he has improved a lot this past year.

SSM is a very good program that routinely feeds to the power teams (Minny, NoDak, BC, BU).

Yes Trots, most of us are aware. Pretty sure Crosby famously played there. Celebrini too. I'm saying SSM plays in this UMHSEHL league, because I dunno if many of us knew what the hell that was.

I was not implying you were not aware.  I was throwing it out there for those who were not.

I can't tell if Trotsky is under the impression that this new recruit Aronson played at SSM. He did not.

Another recruit of ours, Henri Ament, did. He has not exactly lit up junior hockey though.

Oh.

Huh.

Never mind.  I have no idea what I was thinking.  (Upon review, I simply misunderstood stereax' line).

I just saw You Can See Everything, so maybe I am experimenting with truth and self-awareness?
