Quote from: stereax on March 26, 2026, 01:54:17 PMDid they say this would be the first NCAA win for Dartmouth in SEVENTY SEVEN YEARS? First... national title, right?

No, they last won a semifinal (back when the field was four teams) back in 1949, and have never won the national title nor won an NCAA tournament game since.
Holy shit. I could've sworn they were decent in the 60s or 70s, maybe just in ECAC play.

Dartmouth won the 3rd place game against Cornell in 1980.

MSU 2-1 over UConn.

Augustine with 41 saves.

Holy crap. 2-1 MSU win. Augustine made 40 saves or thereabouts.

Give that man a GUN.

Dark times in college hockey with the Big 10 hoarding so much talent. We need Pelletier to offset this.

C'mon, man. UCONN outshot MSU by a large margin and should've taken that game. Save your argument for a more dominant Big 10 performance.

Again, give Trey Augustine a gun.

Even MSU's coach Nightingale said UConn was the better team on the ice today. Not sure I'd go that far - I think he's trying to be a sportsman - but they sure did enough to get it done if Augustine hadn't stood on his head.

The shot totals were like 40 to 25 and UConn had five or six powerplays. If you don't run into the world's hottest goalie, you pot 3 or 4 goals and win handily. Augustine had at least three separate saves of the game to keep MSU in it.

So there's no SOG counter anywhere at the arena (which is a WTF moment). Based on pure in-person observation, I had no idea UConn outshot MSU that much. UConn definitely blocked more shots, but Sparty was clearly the bigger and faster team. They beat out the race to the dots on icing at least a half dozen times and manhandled UConn players off the puck repeatedly.

I have cable and yet because I didn't have my password and user name I wasn't able to watch or listen at work.
