Fantastic win! I was TBH not expecting it. The team played with high intensity from the start and never let up. Even taking that into account, it also seemed like an off day for the Tigers, perhaps because starting attackman Buonanno did not play. Goalie Croddick, usually excellent, ended at 41%.

But I don't want to take anything away from the Red! They went out and got themselves a statement win, all credit to them.

Also, kudos to the Princeton video production. Top notch in every aspect, from camera number and quality to camera operation to announcing. The announcing duo is knowledgeable and notably respectful of the opposing team.

Next up is Yale. Red should be tanned rested and ready, whether or not any of our injured players are back.

And a nice bit of info from Inside Lacrosse:

"PRINCETON, N.J. — CJ Kirst was in the crowd of 2,188 Saturday, in the center of a large contingent of Big Red faithful inside Princeton's Class of 1952 Stadium."

NFW. Bill Tierney was at a different level of intensity combined with a certain irascibility  on the field. Not sure how many converts he won. What he did win was six national championships at Princeton in nine years, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2001. Why didn't Cornell hire this Cortland State grad who knew upstate NY? Cornell's lacrosse cred didn't start to slip until the early '90s; Princeton hired Tierney in 1988 when Cornell finished back to championship runner-up seasons. Wrong timing.

Because no one was going to fire Richie Moran to hire a guy who'd never been a D1 head coach?
"Mark Mazzoleni looks like a guy whose dog just died out there..."

Some discussion of the game by the guys at Inside Lacrosse starting at -19:10.

Fun comment that the guy (coach) at the front of the Cornell bus "is a young guy who can still run by a pole."

Positive notes: Firth and Goldstein elevated their play; the good play of the short stick middies; team effort on offense; D work on ground balls.

League comment: Unexpected wins in the Ivies because the teams know each other so well and make plans.
