Clarkson or Dartmouth In Semi-Final Game?

Wondering who we all are rooting for in the Clarkson vs. Dartmouth semi-final game.

If Cornell was not involved, I think I would probably root for Dartmouth. I just respect them more and like them better.

But Cornell is, obviously involved.

Unless someone convinces me otherwise, I plan to root for Clarkson. Overall Clarkson should be the weaker team and playing them should give us a better chance of winning the championship if we beat Princeton. If we face Clarkson in the finals, we'll have last change.

I am basically ignoring NPI considerations because 1) winning the ECAC championship is far more important to me than our NCAA seed, and 2) I kinda feel like any downside from us losing to Clarkson in the finals, or losing to Princeton in the semis, would be mitigated by Dartmouth losing to Clarkson. (I realize that our overall NPI position may be better if we win out if we beat Dartmouth instead of Clarkson in the finals.)

So...all that being said...who is everyone rooting for in the Clarkson vs. Dartmouth game?

There are very, very few things I wouldn't root for if they're facing Dartmouth.

Harvard or Quinnipiac I think are my main exceptions.

Also, Clarkson v Cornell gives us that Casey Jones Cinema.

Yeah, but it's much more fun doing that when our team has played the early game and won.

I know Harvard is our rival but I don't dislike them at all compared to a generic team. They're always one of the least dirty teams in the whole country (some might call them soft). They're also the only school fighting back against Trump. It's a misguided fight they can't really win, but kudos to them for trying.

Looks like that was 2005. Harvard beat Colgate in double OT. And of course the good guys prevailed the next day!

ECACA wise better to root for Clarkson

If we win 3 bid league. If we lose 4 bid league.

It doesn't matter to our RPI whether Dartmouth or Clarkson wins.  However if Dartmouth wins and then beats us, they might finish 8 with us 9, so we might get moved to a less attractive regional.

• They're my second-favorite ECAC program for a variety of reasons.
• Clarkson or Princeton winning the title would have given the ECAC four NC$$ bids (so a hedge in case Cornell didn't win.
• I still think of Reid Cashman as a Fighting Deertick.

Of course, as it turned out, all three games went the wrong way.

I think Dartmouth was extremely lucky this season, and particularly in the ECAC tournament. They didn't have to go through us or Quinnipiac, and their semis and finals games were even in terms of metrics. They won two coin-flips against mediocre teams. I hope they get thrashed in the NCAA tournament, though in today's era of college athletics there's no way I can root for Big 10 schools either...
