That was a bummer. I feel for this team. They're losing stamina in the third periods.

And game.

That sucked!

Not sure what the problem is with the women's team this year, but it feels like after their hot start they've just been struggling to string together more than one win in a row.

Derraugh's "system" has always been based on defensive responsibility as the first priority. So they don't take risks unless they have to. But then if they are behind, they often don't have the juice to come back. Which is partly about roster size/depth. So it feels like they don't have much margin for error. It's frustrating. They lost 11 seniors to graduation last year and one junior. The freshman class are 4 forwards, 1 D and 1 goalie. Anyway, I hope they are still having fun and making great friendships.

Yeah - I think a good amount of this does boil down to simply just not having enough people around. You can't really scratch players or rotate them when you're already at skeleton crew levels. Hopefully the recruiting brings in a bigger class next year.

And that definitely makes sense about Derraugh's system as well. It feels like we struggle super hard if the other team scores first...

It seems like the team is super close and enjoying the games this year (see: the ODR trip). Unfortunately, friendships don't get reflected on the scoreboard :( Especially with the large graduating class last year as well as Patty Kaz winner Daniel the year before, seems like it's going to be a rebuild kinda year for the Red. Good that they stacked up those early wins though, so this slide isn't as painful.

It's tough because a lot of these girls are very competitive and serious about playing at the next level. Having a lot
of expectations around winning trophies can also be a burden. College sports in general can be a drag if hard work isn't rewarded. Not to mention academics. Anyway, just hoping everyone appreciates what a blessing it is to be at Cornell, and to spend time well.

I was close friends with a member of the 1982 team and the evolution of the sport and the players is remarkable.  The difference between a 2026 Cornell womens hockey player and a 1980s is virtually at the species level.  Normal humans played 40 years ago.  Now they are as super athletic as any other sport.

I have thought the same.  When I watched back then it was "Why am I wasting time like this.  I can play this well."

Now it's more like "If I could just once in my life do that ...."
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

Women up 3-1 in 3rd over Princeton.

And 4-1 on a PPG!

Cornell ends Princeton's 13-game win streak with a convincing 6-1 victory after falling behind 1-0. It would be nice if this game gets the team back on track. Cornell hasn't lost a game at Princeton since 2018.
Princeton was the third best defensive team in the nation entering the game.
Bergmann not only stopped 19 of 20 shots, but got an assist on an empty-net goal.

What the hell is Curtis's tape job?

Currently sick as hell in the Lynah bathrooms. Remind me I am NOT able to eat eggs anymore, and being like "I should try to make sure I can't" is the devil speaking. Also, "I can go off my pantoprazole" is ALSO the devil speaking.

Relatedly, you can absolutely hear the PA from the bathroom. Which is a perk, I suppose.

I'll probably put the game on ESPN+ and watch along if my stomach doesn't cooperate 😅

Nice loud RED though 🥰

There is a lot of noise and my ESPN+ isn't working. Things are, presumably, happening.

I think this might be the first ever game post from the Lynah bathroom. Gonzo journalism at its finest
