I think part of the reason that Cournoyer has such a high save percentage is that the scouting report on him might be that rebound control is a weaker part of his game. I remember from my brief scan of film on him before he came in this year that he seemed a bit prone to rebounds, so maybe that's why teams are taking so many shots and why Yale and Brown end up outshooting us even though we dominate most of the game. Of course, he has been phenomenal this year, and also has been good with rebound control in my eyes, so maybe I'm just off base.

Completely off topic, I found myself completely forgetting about guys like Mosko, Wolfenberg, Donaldson and Murray. Speaks to how good the freshman class is this guys that previously cracked the lineup and have way more experience haven't seen the ice at all this year.

Welp, word seems to be out:

I saw that last evening and figured someone would post it here. Good for a chuckle.

Through his five games he is the most consistent player so far.  I am no longer dissecting his play.  As far as I'm concerned he hasn't given up a bad goal the likes of the DiGiulian goal or Walsh's second goal both from Saturday night.  If he can stay away from those types of back breakers we're going to really benefit from this kid.

He's big.  He's agile.  He always seemed to be square to the shooter.  He's handled the puck well.  What's not to like?

Remember when I was so worried at the beginning of the year and was saying I think he should do a full year in the Q before Cornell?

Man, I'm a fuckin idiot. I love this kid so much. Those stretch passes. Fuck, those are some pretty stretch passes. And I don't think I've seen him give up a "bad" goal all year.

Ooh. That would make sense.

Cmon now. What are you doing? You're not a rookie here anymore.

Check out this 2007 study "Lynah Rink, The Science of the Ice" for BEE 453.  It's 25 pages describing 1-D modeling with COMSOL.
TLDR:
"Our project seeks to look into the ice at Lynah rink, specifically the heat transfer processes involved in making the ice, maintaining it, and removing it in the off-season."  "The resurfacing process, needed to be complete in less than fifteen minutes, was found by our model to take about six minutes. This value is subject to change from variation in the heat transfer coefficient and rink temperature, but our analysis found that even high values for these parameters still allowed resurfacing in a maximum of eight minutes."

Quote from: VIEWfromK on November 16, 2025, 10:24:16 AMThe pattern continues.  Feel things out in the first and then get to work.  That was the process for a lot of the early 2000s teams.  Kraft was their best player last night.  It's a good sign that on any given night a different player or a different line can be the driving force.  What a difference having Wallace and Devlin back. The team did not hit much last season.  That doesn't seem to be an issue now.  They made changes to the two power play units.  Stanley was on the top unit with Fegaras dropping down to unit two.  There were one timers attempted Saturday night which they did not do to my recollection on Friday night.  As Pierre would say, "I was right on the sight line" of the Walsh ripper.  Far side against the grain.  Two more freshman goals.  This is an incredible crop of talent.  These early games have showed some glimpses of the team's potential while also offering plenty of aspects by which to improve on.  I expect that some of these one and two goal games will turn into one or none after the calendar turns.  I think it's tough to judge them on that third period last night.  Cornell lost any momentum that they may have brought into that period.  Even if it wasn't your typical adversity they still overcame it.  Split on the road and take care of business at home.  If they follow that through the end of the semester they will be putting themselves in a terrific position for the second half.

The band deserves a lot of props.  They took back Lynah Rink last night.  They played in pretty much every stoppage and it carried through during the intermissions.  The radio music was significantly at a lower volume thankfully (except for one song during the delay).  If the band can continue to beat back that noise they will regain what helps make Lynah unique.  Thank you guys.  Great work.

I had to leave early from this game but was in agreement with you about Kraft and am glad I got to see the Hiscock goal he assisted on. Also, someone on here said he was an Energizer Bunny, and the ESPN announcers mentioned his contribution.
He may not have the size but he's got the balls and gumption of a 7 footer.

I hope Major is okay as I miss seeing him on the ice.  I'm trying to finagle my weekend schedule so I can be there this weekend for at least one of the games

My understanding re: Major is that it's not something significant, but I may be wrong.

Dave Nulle - longtime Olympia driver for the ice at Lynah has passed away.
Seems ironic in light of what happened this past weekend with the ice
RIP Dave
