I thought the whole broadcast was very good but this stood out to me too. I'd have loved to see more of it. Gives you a much better sense of spacing and movement than the typical angles.

Honestly, it drove me nuts. If I wanted to know what the game looks like from the wrong end of a pair of binoculars deep in the nosebleeds I'd do it in person.

My ideal seat in an NHL arena is way up so that I can keep everyone in my sight.  I like watching guys get into position.  I like being able to see things before they happen.  It's not always easy on TV.

LeNeveu was calm like that.  Here's hoping...

Coach Jones has just sent another email:

Dear Stereax,

We opened our regular season this past weekend with a challenging road series at UMass Amherst, one of the top-ranked teams in the country. Splitting the weekend on the road was a solid result for our group and a good sign of the strides we've made since our two exhibition games.

Friday night was a tough loss to swallow. We dominated 5-on-5 play, allowing just 16 shots on goal, but our special teams let us down. Both of their goals came on the power play, while we scored the only even-strength goal of the game. They took a 2–1 lead with about a minute and thirty-five seconds left and held on for the win. Our power play had a few good looks but struggled to establish a consistent setup — something we'll keep refining as we face more pressure from opponents.

Saturday was a different story. UMass came out firing, putting pucks on net early, but we weathered that storm and controlled the final 40 minutes. Freshman forward Gio DiGiuilian scored his second goal in as many nights, and our power play came alive with goals from Charlie Major and freshman defenseman Xavier Veilleux. In goal, Alexis Cournoyer made his first college start and played extremely well after Remington Keopple got the nod on Friday.

We're encouraged by what we've seen so far. The team is making steady progress, though we know there are plenty of details to clean up as we continue to build chemistry. With so many new faces in the lineup, that process will take time — but the effort and commitment have been outstanding.

This week, we're right back to work as we prepare for a huge weekend ahead. We'll open ECAC play on the road at Harvard and Dartmouth, and there's nothing like a rivalry game to get the juices flowing.

As the calendar turns to November, it's that time of year when I ask our alumni and friends of the program to consider helping our student-athletes pursue their dreams with a donation. The NCAA landscape has changed dramatically in recent years, and we're working hard to stay at the top of college hockey where Cornell belongs. The NCAA continues to expand opportunities for schools to support their athletes, and we want to take full advantage of these changes.

You can find the donation link on this page. I've also been asked whether donations to Cornell are tax deductible in Canada — and the answer is yes; I've included the link here for your reference.

Thank you for your continued support of Cornell Men's Hockey. Your passion and generosity help us compete at the highest level and carry on the proud tradition of Big Red hockey.

Let's Go Red!

"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."
