E-Faithful,

Thought you might like to check out the first edition of our weekly hockey page in The Crimson. It's something new we're trying this year, so we want as much feedback as possible.

It includes a weekend preview by colleague Timothy McDonald, and my Harvard/ECAC notes column. Hope you enjoy them, and again, please send along any thoughts you might have on it. The first audience we're aiming for is the Harvard undergrad, but we know what a strong on-line community there is in the sport, so we want to expand our readership that way, too.

There's a PDF available here:

Thanks much. Enjoy the weekend.

Unless your printing this hockey page on an honors degree, you're not going to get much play among Harvard undergrads.

Come on guys; no need to be harsh to him.

Thanks for posting the link here, JPM. The format of the page is pretty nice, and I think the predictions thing is cool.

My sentiments, exactly, Avash.

As with Mark from BU, it's nice to have a rival partisan post pertinent stuff here--and not just the tiresome cheap shots we get from some others.

Thank you, Jon Paul.  Pay no attention to the young 'uns who don't have an appreciation for the fact that a good rivalry means knowing all you can about the opponent, and the fact that you can't have an epic battle unless the two programs are BOTH powerful and evenly matched.

To all the Cornell fans ripping on him: your assigned reading is The Game, by Ken Dryden.  Pay special attention to his respect for BU.

I think we Lynah Faithful are open-minded enough to read rags from other schools.  We don't need to bash 'em.  We know which team we support, and we will be wholeheartedly partisan about it.  But, if they start bashing the Big Red, then I'd say we subscribe these intruders to all kinds of porn sites :-D

Well, I'll let all of you guess what my position regarding this is...:-P

Is next year here yet?

I am really impressed by the articles.  I good to see the journalism on par with the Harvard hockey team.  Both have really picked up in the past few years since I've become an ECAC fan!

I liked the quote from Mazz:

"It's not like we're the Montreal Canadiens.  We have skilled players but I bet they have as many skilled players as we do."

My humor is very similar to his...

Thanks for sharing the link JMP and keep the good work up!  It benefits us all if the hockey program at Harvard is running on full gears!  Now fill up those seats...

I agree, Jon - it's good to see an opponent's fan posting here intelligently, and it's also great to see Harvard finally recognizing that it's okay to support their hockey team.  For most of the sixteen years I've been following college hockey, your average Harvard undergrad either didn't know there was a hockey program, or believed it wasn't cool to care - and that includes most of their national championship season in 1988-89.

Even though this increased awareness and fanaticism comes along with increased difficulty in getting tickets for Lynah East, I say "kudos."

And feel free to keep on getting your pro-Harvard and anti-Cornell game score predictions wrong.  :-D
