Quote from: TrotskyWhat is the soccer post season like?  Is there a conference tournament?  Is there an Ivy auto bid to the NC$$?

LMGTFM (AI so assume it is all wrong):

QuoteThe Ivy League holds a four-team conference tournament.  The winner receives the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

QuoteThe NCAA tournament involves single-elimination rounds played at campus sites, with the winners advancing to the "College Cup," a predetermined neutral site for the semifinals and championship. The Division I tournament features 64 teams, with the top 16 seeded and receiving a bye in the first round.

Last year:

QuoteThree Ivies will continue on to the 2024 Men's Soccer College Cup as Cornell, Penn, and Princeton all earned berths to the NCAA Tournament.

Penn earned the number six overall seed in the College Cup as the Quakers finished the regular season with a 14-3-1 overall record and ranked seventh in the RPI metrics. Penn recorded a variety of notable non-conference wins throughout the season with victories over Pittsburgh, Hofstra, and Fordham. With the seeding, the Quakers earned a first-round bye and will take on the winner of UMass and Evansville.

Princeton, who earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, didn't have to stress throughout the selection show as the Tigers took down Penn, 3-1, in last weekend's conference tournament championship game. The Tigers (12-6, 5-2 Ivy) enter the tournament having won three of their last four games and will take on Akron in the first round.

Cornell received an at-large selection into the NCAA Tournament after a terrific regular season that saw the Big Red finish 12-3-2 overall and 5-2 in Ivy League play.   Cornell is led by Co-Offensive Player of the Year Alex Harris who ranks second in the nation in goals per game. Cornell will take on Fordham in the opening round.

Most recent 2025 poll.

That Akron home game on October 7 could make this a special season.
NCAA tourney is 48 teams with the top 16 getting a bye, not sure how 64 teams would work with that system.

Akron lost yesterday so they'll probably drop to around #10 this week.

Early season RPI doesn't respect our schedule. Currently at 74. Too much SOS early in the season Dartmouth is higher at 1-3. Princeton is top 10 and lost their only game against a good opponent.

Yeah I wouldn't worry much about RPI for individual teams yet but one encouraging sign is that the Ivy League average RPI is currently at .5076. I don't expect it to stay that high but with what looks like a clear top 3 of Penn, Princeton, and Cornell, that number could be enough to get all 3 in the big dance.

Quote from: chimpfoodBig 3-0 bounce back win over western Michigan. Looked really good today.
Not sure why Cornell didn't post the highlights from the game since it was in Ithaca and on ESPN+. First goal was a nice volley off a set piece, second and third were great counterattacking passes into space followed by clean finishes after nice runs right at the box. WMU defense probably got an earful during film review over the latter pair.

I found the highlights on the Cornell Athletics YouTube channel.

Cornell up 2-1 at the half. Cornell getting more shots, Yale committing more fouls. Keep the score with the run of play. Just turned the game on and heard that Yale saved a PK late in the half to keep it close.

dag14

Slow start with Yale scoring first; Cornell with 2 toward the end of the first half.  Let's hope they stay focused.

Cornell scores while I was away from my computer then rings one off the post as soon as I got back.

Dominant second half. 3-1 final but Yale never came close to scoring again and with slightly more touch we win by 5. Cornell was constantly dispossessing Yale and getting the ball into space. Looked great.
