Sorry I had to miss most of this but it was nice to be able to comfortably go back and watch the four goals and then enjoy the Big Red closing it out. Even with a 4-0 lead, the defense never let Lafayette threaten. Did Friedberg have any saves?*

* I know I can check this.

Not that I saw. I came to the game late though.

I checked. The answer is no. Lafayette goalie had 7 saves. We had 6 corners to their 1. We had a few more fouls (14-10) but the only card, a yellow, went against Lafayette.

Nice game under the lights at Berman. Dominance from us and an absolute banger from Schaban. On to UConn!

I have to say, I went into the game annoyed that it had been moved to 5pm because I was going to have to pick up my son from daycare early in the second half, and soccer is not justifiable screen-time for him yet. But I ended up feeling much better about turning off the TV thirteen minutes into the half than I thought I would. Insert legacy dancing banana emoji here.

During the broadcast the announcers mentioned that UCONN plays on a turf field, which generally hasn't been great for us. Hopefully the team can get some practice time on turf before heading to Storrs.

Game day tomorrow. I'll be dreaming tonight about a win plus a Maryland upset to get another home game, but not holding my breath

started slow in the opening minutes but we've dominated possession and had a lot of decent scoring chances before finally cashing one in

UConn has only had one great chance but (a) i think it was going over the bar and (b) Friedberg knocked out over.

And while I was typing, UConn scored on a ball that flew around the box.  Not a great chance to clear and a truly great job by the Huskies to keep the ball live on the end line and finish with a diving header on the 43d minute.

And now, in the literal final second of the half, a ball slips between Friedberg's legs and UConn is up 2-1. jfc

That is truly awful from Friedberg. With that going against us and both of our center backs out I do not feel good about this.

And it's 3-1 UConn in the 78th minute ...

scoop85

Frustrating, because for 40 minutes we were in control of this game. Johnson being out really hurt us.

CU77

And that's all she wrote. UConn 3-1 FT

scoop85

Shots were 31-9 and SOG 8-5 in our favor. We also had 15 corners to UCONNs 2.
