Hoping the bats stay hot.  Our starting pitcher has an ERA of 9.10.::uhoh::

Maybe the plan is to make this a "bullpen" game, with a parade of pitchers going an inning or two each.

ERA can be misleading though.

3 runs in 3 innings is a 9 but not as devesting as 9 runs in 9 innings.

Umm. The only difference is the number of innings the pitcher is in the game for.

upprdeck

yes. but if you only pitch few inning era gets skewed fast

tough call in the dropped ball at the plate?

I take it no replay in this? as he was clearly out?

Gonna need another comeback today...by the way, this LiveStats layout is headache inducing--especially when the bases are loaded! (and as I'm typing this, Penn has scored again and it's 6-0.)

6-5 now. End 3.

Cornell has tied it, 6-6, top of the fourth (for some reason Cornell is the visiting team.)

Cornell has taken an 8-7 lead in the top of sixth.

tough way to give up the lead on basically nothing from Penn
Much like they got the 6 run lead without hitting the ball hard

Al DeFlorio

11-8 Penn 0n 3-run homer bottom 7th

Cornell loses 11-9.  I feel bad for these kids (all of them, on both teams) that they have to play another game today, they must be exhausted.  Let's hope the bats stay hot for Cornell in the final game later today, because it seems clear that the pitching won't!

Still don't understand why Cornell wasn't the home team.

They ARE playing closer to Philadelphia than Ithaca.

I know nothing about our pitching staff, but given we had the luxury of a one-game cushion, I hope our pitching is set-up better for the 2nd game than Penn's staff, which had to use it's ace in relief in game one.
