As pointed out by Ralph Baer.   And the Nanaimo connection gets stronger:

from a nanaimo clippers press release from last may. an interesting choice of players to describe him :)

Ray Sawada, a 6'2", 185 lb. forward has verbally committed to join the Nanaimo Clippers for next season.

Sawada helped guide the Richmond Sockeyes to a Provincial Junior B Title and finish 3rd at the Western Canadian Championships.

Sawada describes himself as a player that looks to use his size to dig in the corners and help set up his team-mates.

Bill Bestwick, Clippers Genera Manger & Head Coach says "Sawada is an aggressive and enthusiastic player, a combination of Shane Hynes and Byron Bitz, he's a power forward and goes to the net real hard".

Sawada will wear jersey number 27 when he suits up for the 2003-2004 season.

On the other hand, the Newfie flag (courtesy once more of <http://www.fotw.net/>) doesn't look like a flag at all:

To top it off..news in the Ontario Provincial Junior league is that Matt Mckeown will be moved to the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL for this season.

I know it's a bit late, but a belated happy birthday to our two new recruits (born on same day with different last name?).  Any story on that or is it random?

August 27 is the date Tyler Mugford and Ray Sawada committed to attending Cornell.  You can wish them happy birthday on January 14 and February 19, respectively, when they each turn 19.  Mugford is from Prince Albert, SK and Sawada is from Richmond, BC, so they may have met each other recently.
