Good rule change. It was unfair that a defensive player could shove an offensive player in the back and into the crease to negate a goal scoring opportunity.

https://www.usalaxmagazine.com/college/men/ncaa-announces-change-to-dive-plays-around-crease-in-mens-lacrosse

In men's lacrosse, a goal scored while the offensive player is propelled into the crease/goal mouth due to illegal contact by the defender will count, starting with the 2023 season.

The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved the new rule during a conference call Wednesday.

Rematch with Maryland should be interesting.  Almost through reading We Showed Baltimore.  Just yesterday, I read about our rematch with Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field following our 1977 championship win over the Blue Jays.

Incoming Cornell players all sound fantastic. But: None are in the Inside Lacrosse top 10 (Harvard is the only Ivy, with Adam Blind, #6, goalie.)

Too bad he's not their hockey goalie - the Lynah Faithful would have lots of fun with that name

These are the IL Cornell-recruit rankings HS Class of '22 combined with Cornell's notes on its 14 incoming players. Five stars is the highest. Cornell's lone five-star is a FOGO. If you only have one, best when it's a faceoff guy or goalkeeper. Unless your name is Teat or Pannell.

Take the rankings with grains of salt. The previous IL player ranking (2021 HS graduation year) had A Danny Caddigan as Cornell's top-rated recruit (4 stars), rated #61 among all rookies and at attack for Cornell in 2022 scored 3 goals, 0 assists. The year before, A CJ Kirst was the ninth-highest rated player and in his first season (2022) had 55-24--79 points.

Schools ranked by recruit quality

Hilarious that 1-4-1 Princeton is ranked higher than 1-7-2 Cornell because it has a higher star "average."  Using that logic, 1-0-0 would be better still.

Math and statistics look good when you're staring through a telescope at the cosmos. Imagine taking Carl Sagan's class while stoned.

I don't believe Rob Pannell was even ranked by IL so I take all of the above with a grain of salt.  And it is important to remember that lax is a team game.  Ten people on the field who are willing and able to support each other is likely to guarantee success more often than having ten selfish AA's on the field.
