Just watched the third period of the Canada - Finland women's game.  Brianne Jenner with the empty netter to clinch Canada's 5-3 win and also an assist on the 3rd goal.  Rebecca Johnston and Jill Saulnier got ice time, but didn't score (I believe).

Jamie Bourbonnais and Micah Zandee-Hart also on the roster, but I think they were healthy scratches

Micah i think is injured and technically no longer part of the roater for the tournament but still in contention for the olympic team roster.  Bourbonnais apparently had a terrible first period and got only 10 seconds in the 2nd period. I did see her somewhat in the 3rd but still very little.  Kristin O'Neill was a healthy scratch.

Oh yeah. Forgot about O'Neill.  Oops.

Bummer about Micah.

Jillian Saulnier was the spokesperson on an anti-bullying promo that was shown during the USA game.

Jenner with 3 assists in Canada's 5-1 romp over the US.

Jeff Hopkins '82

Jenner with another assist on Canada's first goal in the semi against Switzerland.  Johnston, Saulnier, and Bourbonnais all getting regular ice time, too.

Johnston scores Canada's fourth goal on the Power Play.

Final 4-0.

Canada vs USA tomorrow night for the gold.

Was hoping to see O'Neill tonight. I think she did play 3 consecutive games up until tonight. She seems to be the 5th center on the team.

Brianne Jenner with a goal and two assists as Canada wins the gold in overtime.

It was one hell of a game, too.

I dont think Bourbonnais got on the ice at all. She was the 7th defenseman.

FWIW she was listed at the 7th d-man in the semi, too, but she got a lot more ice time.

I only saw the second and third periods.  I did not see her...and I looked.  I suspect that after going down 2-0 after the first period, they shortened the bench a bit.

In fact, I didn't even see her during the celebrations and award ceremony although that was more likely due to the choices of the program's director at TSN.  They tended to keep the camera on a handful of star players.

I did see her during the celebration. She was on the ice for the celebration but she didnt get a single shift during the game. I think she was in the 3rd pairing for the very first game of the tournament but played badly in the first shift, benched during the 2nd and barely played in the 3rd period (all in the opening game). Then, she started getting listed at the 7th throughout the tournament.  I think she may need to regain the coach's trust quiet a bit. Im assuming 3 players (1 goalie and 2 skaters) are gonna get cut from the roster for the olympics team?

I was a grad student at Princeton so I've been paying attention to Sarah Fillier and Claire Thompson. They were getting a ton of ice time and media coverage. Thompson seemed like an awesome skater. I think they improved a ton. They were always good but I think they have really solidififed their standings within the national team.

It looks like Olympic rosters are 20 skaters and 3 goalies (vs. 22 and 3 at worlds), but there are a couple of centralized players (including Micah Zandee-Hart) who were not on the roster in Calgary.

wow, looking at the centralization roster, the competition looks rough (https://www.hockeycanada.ca/en-ca/team-canada/women/national/2021-22/centralization/centralization-roster) (17 fwd and 9 defense trimmed to most likely 14 fwds and 6 d).  Does anyone here know how bad Micah's injury is?

The first pre-olympic "friendly" is here in Allentown in late October between the US and Canada.  I'm debating whether to go.  The covid vax rate here in the Lehigh Valley is pretty good (>66% of adults fully vaxxed).  But the Phantoms skew family-friendly, and I don't want to be around a lot of kids.
