When considering making a change any top leadership position, it's important not only to look at the body of work, but the trend. For all the flack he gets, Noel took Cornell athletics to some pretty exciting places. However, the trend recently has been absolutely awful. We're starting to see sports where we have been traditionally a power become weaker and weaker - Lax and Hockey. We're also seeing that in the sports where we had success under Noel's leadership, that success has been fleeting. Time to make a change.

Is there an overall win-loss-tie summary for each Ivy school for, say, each of the last 10 years? For league and overall W-L-T, because schools that want to be good in a sport need to play powerful non-league games to build strength of schedule. I suspect Cornell is in the upper half among the Ivies.

There are other ways to measure:
* Winning percentage of women's vs. men's teams. If men fare better than women, some might see neglect.
* Number of times you Google [school name] sports DUI arrest brawl intoxication suspended ... as well as Rhodes Scholar, Lowes Award, All-America, etcetera.
* Quality of the webcast.

We're sore because hockey (men's only) is suffering mixed success relative to the Cornell norm while the Ivies/ECAC have been excellent and men's lacrosse is having two bad years such as being in the top twenty, only tying for the Ivy RS title, and not getting past the first round of the NCAAs is a bad year.

It's not just hockey and lacrosse.  Football has been a disaster during Andy's tenure.  Bill, do you believe Bill Courtney deserved an extension?

Those of us concerned about the volleyball program are also unhappy with Andy--and have been for a very long time.

I've been saying it forever.  Andy should go. He has done nothing to advance the reputation or profile of the University or its athletics department.  Let him be AAD for Wrestling and find someone else to move the department forward.

Very few of us one this board like Andy, especially because of what he did to the atmosphere at Lynah.

Did you expect any conclusion other than the one you're seeing in this poll?

The early returns are not very favorable for Andy.
