Quote from: Thomas LarsonAnyone else get to see the domination at Union today? Minus six players and after a monthlong layoff, this team looks pretty good. Players like Hompe, Ogilvie and Barley-Maloney got in on the action. Union's not great by any stretch, but still pretty encouraging. RPI should be tougher tomorrow.
It's a good way to re-start after the long layoff, but Union was the worst team in the ECAC last year.

A couple of notes:
-Last night was Coach Derraugh's 100th win behind the Cornell bench
-Kaitlyn Pippy got on the ice for the last ten minutes, made three saves and allowed no goals in her first collegiate appearance
-Barley-Maloney scored her first goal for the Red
-Dartmouth knocked off Q 3-2 and Princeton beat Harvard 3-0 -- good for us in the ECAC, mixed news for the Pairwise (Harvard and Dartmouth were both TUCs coming into this week)
-Wisconsin and Minnesota tied 3-3 after OT, BC beat Clarkson 3-2, and Mercyhurst won 8-4 at Syracuse

Wondering if this Twitter post is a hint about future Big Red players ...

In Troy up 3-0 going into the third. They locked down RPI in the second. Only 6 + goalie on the bench for .Cornell

I met Jim Knowlton, the RPI AD, during the third period in Troy.  He was impressed that the women were so strong with the short bench.  He is a classy guy.
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

I heard that one of the players mentioned has committed to Cornell, and I was hoping the other one was also headed to Cornell. That is definitely a good sign!!

I was impressed as well.  We sat right behind the bench and you could see the ladies coming off the ice were gassed in the 3rd period.  I knew they were missing players but did not expect that short of a bench.  Great job this weekend!

Starting vs. Colgate:

Saulnier, White, Johnston, Fortino, Rougeau, Slebodnick

2nd line: Campbell, Jenner, Karpenko

3rd: Fulton, Ogilvie, B-M

4th: Cook, Hompe, Leck

Young is listed with Gagliardi in the d-pairings.

Coach Derraugh just keeps mixing things up.

Ben

1-0, Johnston. Easy shot into a half-empty net. Not sure what the Colgate goaltender was doing.

Ben

Couple of PP chances come to nothing, then Fortino got drilled behind our cage and had to go off. Down to four defensemen.

Ben

Johnston makes it 2-0, four minutes left in the first.

Ben

2-0 end 1st. Comfortable, but the injury to Fortino is concerning.

Ben

2-0 end 2nd. Killed off a minute of 5x3 and a couple of PPs. Fortino came back out and was taking shifts, so she's probably okay. The intensity seems to have dropped off a bit since the sledging at the end of the first.

Rougeau makes it 3-0 during the eleventy billionth 5x3 of the game.

Ben

4-1 win over Q after going a goal down in the first period moves us top of the league, tied on points with Q after beating them twice and with four games in hand over them.
