Maybe you guys have already talked about this, but I *love* the disclaimer at http://www.voteforhobey.com:

"Note: Attempts will be made to stop ballot-box stuffing. If it is obvious the same person is voting multiple times, and circumventing the rules, votes may be discounted, and users may be removed - at our discretion."

Yeah. Right. You're telling me that Tom Preissing, the fine defenseman from Colorado College, is more than four times worthier than Doug Murray to be a Hobey finalist? (When I checked this morning, Preissing had 29,595 fan voting "points," Murray 7,213.) Are there really *that* many more CC fans than Cornell fans? Preissing's a good player...but is he that much better than Dougie? I smell stuffing.

And LeNeveu, clearly the country's best goalie, isn't currently even slated to be a finalist (among fan balloting...fortunately, the selection committee can override ignorant Midwesterners...). Glad to know there's no stuffing going on. Man, them voteforhobey police must be the same guys guarding Lynah to make sure no fish get thrown on the ice.

If you read the rules, fan voting accounts for a very, very small portion of the overall decision making process.

1/61st, or something to that effect.

The general sense gathered from looking at WCHA-heavy threads is that LeNeveu is actually quite respected by westerners.  HE people tend to prefer one of their own, Howard.  CCHA people seem to no longer exist -- I have no idea what's going on with them.

Murray is toast on any national fan ballot for being (1) an ECACer and (2) a defenseman.

Baby gets no national love at all, although it's truly impressive how much non-Cornell ECACers stick up for him.

He should be...  not that I think he'll win, but he's got numbers comparable to those Miller had, other than the shutouts.  And if anyone claims that his numbers are inflated (or I guess, deflated for GAA) by playing in the ECAC, it's worth noting that his GAA and SV% are both better in non-conference games.
