Seems like football is recruiting some quality talent.  Tyler Betros a safety/LB from Jacksonville Bolles HS has won back-to-back FL state championships in football and baseball.  I wonder if he's going to try to play both sports at Cornell.

The "which won it's second state"! And this on the web page of what's apparently an affiliate of both ABC and NBC!::doh::

Like you need to spell to be on TV. At least it's not our recruit who wrote that. BTW does the still frame (?) image look like widescreen squashed to 4:3? Taylor Betros looks like he's on the Calista Flockhart diet.

Scoop I agree, it appears Coach Austin is recruiting some outstanding players and winning some recruiting battles.  With the right coach, I know of no reason why we can't win in football too.

Then Cornell can truly become a god among insects.

Sorry, it was about time for my yearly trolling re: Ivy League football.  See you next year. ;-)

Cornell recruit
These guys say he scored 33 on the ACT and squats 600 pounds.  Someone suggested that he ought to go to LSU and raise the average ACT of the team to 19.  From comments elsewhere, it looks as though he is purely a runner and will need to work on blocking.  Encouraging YouTube video.  Some of his long gains come from big holes in the line, but others are brute force and persistence.

Now Austin has to find five 300-pounders who can block.

I think he's being viewed as a lead blocker/fullback type which is something the running game needs.  I also hope Cornell's recruiting class brings in some much needed size on the OL and DL.

Appears that Coach Austin and staff are logging a lot of miles in putting together this class.
Of this partial list, more players are from California and Florida than any other state [3 each].

Recruit Shane McManamon is following in the footsteps of his late brother Jamie McManamon in coming to Cornell.  Jamie was tragically killed in an auto accident following his freshman year at Cornell back in 2004.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer wrote at length about Jamie's and Shane's leadership on the occasion of Shane's team winning the state championship in December.
Quote"We're playing for all the great players here who never got a chance to play for state or never won it," said one of the St. Edward captains, Shane McManamon.

They were also playing for the memory of Shane's brother, Jamie.

Thanks for posting the touching story re Jamie and Shane McManamon.
Looking forward to better days ahead for Big Red football.  In Coach Austin [and Schafer] we trust!

Coach Austin seems to have had good success recruiting in the south.  Also impressed that 3 recruits hail from Brooklyn!
