Happily, BRPH has this, so neither site nor its creator is not dead.

Most importantly: how does he pronounce it?

DEE-azz?
DEE-us?
dee-AZZ?

Any Spanish majors out there who can give us a clue?

Need a Portuguese major, not Spanish.

How the heck did I screw that up?  I mean, it's not like he's from Brazil, which would be the common mistake.  Says right there he was from PORTUGAL.  Sigh - must. get. more. coffee.
Let's Go RED!

Trotsky

"Hey Harvard.  Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-as."?

Trotsky

Quote"Grandpa always told my mom to put me in hockey, and dad always wanted me to be a soccer player."

As a result, Dias grew up playing both sports, and finally made his choice last year, relegating soccer to fun sport status.

"My dad wasn't too happy, but he really wants me to get a scholarship," said Dias
It's just not Dad's week...

*not.   Not not.   Double negative fail.

Final S in Portuguese often comes out sounding like SH.  So if he pronounces it with a real Portuguese accent, it would come out sounding like DEE-ush.

"He's a good skater with a big shot who is strong and drives the net well."
Also,
QuoteWith his impending athletic scholarship to Ivy League Cornell, forward Madison Dias of the Victoria Grizzlies has proven himself as studious and bright as he is flash-quick on the ice with four goals in three games this B.C. Hockey League season.
and
QuoteICE CHIPS: Forward Joel Lowry, the 18-year-old son of former NHLer Dave Lowry, signed this week to attend Cornell, which is becoming a popular NCAA destination for Grizzlies players. Lowry leads the Grizzlies with six points in three games.

It is pronounced "is" not "as" or "ush" although it is spelt "Dias" we say it as if you would spell it "Diis" Hope this helps you out!

Welcome to the Cornell hockey community.  Hope to see you in Florida or MSG or elsewhere.

He must be on Facebook; PM him and ask him how to pronounce his name. If he has a sense of humor he'll write back, MAH-di-son. Or wonder if we have time on our hands. This is another name where gender is unclear (Madison is a top-five girl's name now) and where first and last can be confused.
Transposable First  Last Name
Alexander           Anthony
Christopher         David
Matthew             Taylor
David               Ryan
Ryan                Gabriel
Dale                Carson
Tyler               Taylor
Blake               Madison (Blake Gallagher would come close)
Brady               Winthrop
William             Howard (easily transposed to Howie Williams where I grew up)

Is there a Cornell all-time all-name team on eLynah?
