12/30/1969 Cornell 63 - Villanova 58, at the Palestra, I believe.  Of course, the Big East was founded in 1979.

I just answered my own question -- or at least the Daily News did:
"Cornell won its first Holiday Festival in four appearances and snapped a 41-game losing streak to Big East teams that dated back to before the conference was formed - a win over Villanova Dec. 30, 1969."
I hate this stat, it's been said over and over with no mention that some 32 of those losses have been to SU.

And no one seems to agree on the number.  The cornellbigred.com story says 46-straight losses.

The Big East has changed membership through the years. You'll come up with different numbers based on whether you count only current members, games played against teams in the Big East when Cornell played them, teams that were at one time in the Big East (whether or not they were when Cornell played them), etc.

For many years, I have produced just such a rating set, inspired by the work of JTW and those who came before him:

B-T (Z-Ratings) for NCAA Division I basketball

Cornell is (through games of 12/21) ranked at 19, two spots above St. John's, and only four below the Jayhawks.

This is not exactly the same Bradley-Terry formulation used by JTW. My ratings are based on the "original" KRACH which included "tied" games. I give these fictitious games a lesser weight than the real games (presently 0.2), and eliminate this influence when all teams have a win and a loss.

Penn at 341 of 347 in the Z-Ratings. Must kill them to see Donahue at Cornell.

Harvard is only one slot behind Alabama. Interesting. It is going to be a fun year in the league unless Harvard falls apart. (NB: I would much prefer a relaxing year to a "fun" one. I hope Harvard falls apart.)
